By Jim Dower: Former WBA junior middleweight champion Austin ‘No Doubt’ Trout (31-4, 17 KOs) is being mentioned as the possible next opponent for WBC 154 lb. champion Jermell Charlo (30-0, 15 KOs) on June 9 when he fights in the co-feature bout on the featherweight contenders between Leo Santa Cruz and Abner Mares rematch on Showtime Boxing at the Staples Center in Los Angles, California.
By Jim Dower: In a very hotly contested bout, IBF junior middleweight champion Jermall Charlo (24-0, 18 KOs) bad to struggle hard to defeat former WBA 154lb champion Austin Trout (30-3, 17 KOs) by a 12 round unanimous decision at the the Chelsea at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, Nevada. The judges’ scores were 115-113, 116-112, 116-112.

The Charlo-Trout fight can be seen on Showtime Championship Boxing. The start time is at 9:00 p.m. ET.
Trout, 30, is starting to get up there in age. If he loses this fight to Charlo, it could take him a long time to reset his career again. As it is, Trout has been rebuilding his career for the last three years since his back to back losses to Erislandy Lara and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez in 2013.
By Jim Dower: There’s a possibility that the clash between WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder and Alexander Povetkin will have IBF junior middleweight champion Jermall Charlo (23-0, 18 KOs) vs. Austin Trout (30-2, 17 KOs) added to the undercard in a Showtime split site telecast for May 21.
The Charlo-Trout fight would be taking place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, whereas the Wilder vs. Povetkin fight will be staged at a still to be determined venue in Moscow, Russia.
The Charlo-Trout fight hasn’t been announced as of yet by their management, as negotiations are still taking place for that fight.

According to Dan Rafael, Trout, #3 WBA, #3 WBO, #6 WBC, #9 IBF, is the possible opponent for the hard hitting 25-year-old Charlo. However, the 30-year-old Trout might opt to fight WBO junior middleweight champion Liam Smith instead.
