Groves: I’ve got a plan to beat Badou Jack

groves5By Scott Gilfoid: #1 WBC challenger George Groves (21-2, 16 KOs) has failed twice in the past when he’s challenged for a world title in stoppage losses to former IBF/WBA 168kb champion Carl Froch in the past, and now Groves is on the verge of challenging for another world title against WBC super middleweight champion Badou Jack (19-1-1, 12 KOs) on September 12th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Groves says he’s got a specific game plan for the Badou Jack fight that will bring him a victory in this pay-per-view card on Showtime. Groves, 27, doesn’t say what the plan is, but it’s likely something to do with him using a lot of movement to try and stay clear of him.

Badou Jack: Beating Groves fight might be easy

Badou Jack and George GrovesBy Scott Gilfoid: In less than three weeks, WBC super middleweight Badou Jack (19-1-1, 12 KOs) will be putting his WBC title on the line against his No.1 WBC 168lb mandatory challenger George Groves (21-2, 16 KOs) in a 12 round bout on the undercard of the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Andre Berto fight card on Showtime PPV from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Jack, 31, originally thought the fight with the 27-year-old Groves would be a tough affair, but he’s now thinking that it could wind up as being an easy one for him. Either way, Jack says he’ll ready for a war on September 12th when he gets inside the ring with Groves.

Groves: Froch will soon be forgotten

_DSC1036(Photo credit: Idris Erba) By Scott Gilfoid: If former IBF/WBA/WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch was hoping that he would be remembered by boxing fans for a long time after he’s retired gone away from the sport, he needs to talk with #1 WBC George Groves (21-2, 16 KOs), because he believe that Froch will be forgotten very soon by fans now that he’s stepped away from the sport to exist in retirement.

Groves says he doesn’t like Froch, who beat him twice by knockout. Groves says that at the end of Froch’s career, he was trying to handpick opponents to fight and wound up being stripped of his WBA title and had to vacate his IBF title.

Badou Jack: I’m going for a KO over Groves

_DSC0786(Photo credit: Idris Erba/Mayweather Promotions) By Scott Gilfoid: WBC super middleweight champion Badou Jack (19-1-1, 12 KOs) plans on sending #1 WBC challenger George Groves (21-2, 16 KOs) back home to the UK a loser on September 12th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Jack, 31, says he’s going to be shooting for a knockout over the 27-year-old Groves when the two of them meet up next month in their Showtime pay-per-view contest.

Jack figures that he’s got the better stamina and better defense of the two by far. While Jack has some respect for Groves, he doesn’t see him as being nearly talented enough to take his WBC title from him.

Groves: Badou Jack won’t cause me any problems, his reign is ending

Badou Jack and George Groves(Photo credit: Esther Lin/SHOWTIME) By Scott Gilfoid: A haggard-looking and very confident former two time world title challenger George Groves (21-2, 16 KOs) was in a cocky mood today at the Floyd Mayweather Jr. – Andre Berto kickoff press conference in Los Angeles, California. The press conference was to officially announce the Mayweather-Berto fight card on September 12th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Groves will be on the undercard fighting for a world title against WBC super middleweight champion Badou Jack (19-1-1, 12 KOs). Groves is promising an easy knockout victory over Jack. As haggard and beat up looking that Groves looked, it was hard to take anything he was saying seriously.

Badou Jack defends against George Groves on Mayweather-Berto card

groves95By Scott Gilfoid: As expected, WBC super middleweight champion Badou Jack (19-1-1, 12 KOs) and challenger George Groves (21-2, 16 KOs) have been added to help beef up the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Andre Berto card on September 12th on Showtime pay-per-view from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Jack vs. Groves fight is one that you can argue shouldn’t even be happening. I mean, Groves got whipped twice by former IBF/WBA/WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch not long ago in 2013 and 2014. Like all fighters that get knocked out twice in a row, Groves should have gone to the back of the line and worked his way back to a position where he could fight for a world title.

George Groves training at Golovkin’s gym at Big Bear, but not sparring with him

groves5By Scott Gilfoid: In hopes of raising his game enough to defeat WBC super middleweight champion Badou Jack (19-1-1, 12 KOs), #1 WBC contender George Groves (21-2, 16 KOs) has flown over to California to train at Big Bear Gym.

Groves is hoping that some of Golovkin’s talent will rub off on him to get him to the next level. Unfortunately, Groves won’t be able to spar with Golovkin this time around, because it’s still too early for Golovkin to start his sparring. His fight isn’t until October 17th against IBF middleweight champion David Lemieux (34-2, 31 KOs) on HBO pay-per-view from Madison Square Garden.

Groves’ promoter wants purse bids for Badou Jack fight

groves5By Scott Gilfoid: Kalle Sauerland, the promoter for #1 WBC 168lb contender George Groves (21-2, 16 KOs), is saying that WBC super middleweight champion Badou Jack’s promoters at Mayweather promotions failed to meet the terms for the original deal for the Jack-Groves fight. As such, Sauerland has contacted the World Boxing Council to have them order purse bids for the Jack vs. Groves fight.

Now it’ll be up to the WBC to decide whether or not to let this go to purse bids. Sauerland and Mayweather Promotions previously averted a purse bid recently after they were able to reach a deal for the fight. However, it’s unclear what happened to change the terms of the deal.

George Groves: I just can’t wait to KO Badou Jack

groves563257By Scott Gilfoid: It seems that #1 WBC 168lb contender George Groves’ recent wins over Denis Douglin and Christopher Rebrasse has gone to his head, because he’s now yapping about wanting to get in the ring with WBC super middleweight champion Badou Jack (19-1-1, 12 KOs) for him to fight for Jack’s newly won world title.

Groves believes he’s going to knock Jack out when he gets him inside the ring, and he can’t wait to make that happen. Like I said, I think Groves’ recent wins over weak opposition has gone to his head to the point where he’s talking like he can walk on water and turn water into wine.

He says that the fight could be moved to September 12th instead. The fight had been scheduled for Showtime Championship Boxing for 8/22, but it’s been move for some reason.

It’s possible that the Jack-Groves fight is being moved to September 12th in order to beef up the undercard for the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Andre Berto fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Adding that fight to the card will make it a lot more interesting card.
