This fight has the makings of an exciting affair as long as it lasts. Jack, 31, is getting his first and possibly his last shot at a title, and he wants to make sure that he makes the most of it. If Dirrell knocks Jack out like a lot of boxing fans see happening, then it’s possible that Jack will never get another world title shot.

This is Dirrell’s first title defense of his WBC belt that he won off of former WBC champion Sakio Bika last year, and Dirrell wants to put on an impressive performance.

Jack, 31, has the power and the talent to make this an interesting fight for a while. It’s going to be a good fight for as long as it lasts because Jack is one of those types of fighters who is willing to go out on his shield. He’s looked really good in his last two fights in beating Francisco Sierra and Jason Escalera. He came out swinging in both of those fights and put a real hurting on them in the process of picking up the victories.

James DeGale to face Badou Jack in WBC 168 lb. eliminator

degale546By Scott Gilfoid: The World Boxing Council has ordered WBC Silver super middleweight champion James DeGale (17-1, 11 KO’s) to face #5 WBC Badou Jack (16-0-1, 11 KO’s) in a WBC 168 lb. title eliminator bout. The winner of the DeGale-Jack fight will be the mandatory challenger for WBC 168 lb. champion Sakio Bika.

#3 WBC, DeGale and Jack’s promoters will now look to negotiate the fight. If they’re unable to come to an agreement then fight will go to purse bids on February 14th.

DeGale’s promoter is looking to have the take place on March 1st in the UK. I’m not sure how U.S based Badou Jack will feel about having to fight DeGale in front of his own British fans when he’s the one with the unbeaten record and not DeGale, but if they make it worthwhile in terms of money then I imagine Jack may be agreeable to that.
