By Dan Ambrose: WBC junior middleweight champion Saul Alvarez (39-0-1, 29 KO’s) is building up quite a reputation for taking on the lower hanging fruit rather than reaching up to take the best in the highest branches of the junior middleweight division. Whether that’s his doing or that of his promoters at Golden Boy isn’t really important right now. What is important is that Alvarez isn’t taking on really tough opposition still despite having defending his World Boxing Council strap three times.

Cintron not a real test for Alvarez

Kermit Cintron loses again: Is it time for him to retire?
By Dan Ambrose: If you look at how former International Boxing Federation (IBF) welterweight champion Kermit Cintron (33-5-1, 28 KO’s) performed tonight in getting stopped by World Boxing Council (WBC) junior middleweight champion Saul Alvarez (39-0-1, 29 KO’s) by a 5th round TKO, it’s difficult to make a case for Cintron continuing his career.
Cintron not confident looking at weigh-in for Alvarez fight
By Allen Fox: I don’t like the way that former IBF welterweight champion Kermit Cintron (33-4-1, 28 KO’s) looked at Friday’s weigh-in with WBC junior middleweight champion Saul Alvarez (39-0-1, 28 KO’s) for tonight’s fight at the Monumental Plaza de Toros in Mexico City, Mexico. Cintron looks already defeated even before the fight has started. He just doesn’t look energized and up for facing the young Alvarez for some reason.
Alvarez vs. Cintron, Broner vs. Rodriguez in mismatches tonight on HBO
By Chris Williams: HBO will be televising a couple of mismatches tonight in a split site telecast highlighted by the fight between WBC junior middleweight champion Saul Alvarez (38-0-1, 28 KO’s) making his third title defense against a fading Kermit Cintron (33-4-1, 28 KO’s) in a fight that will clearly go to the young 21-year-old Alvarez in a fight that will take place in Alvarez’s home country of Mexico at the Monumental Plaza de Toros in Mexico City, Mexico.
Alvarez faces his best opponent of his career on Saturday night against Cintron
By Allen Fox: WBC junior middleweight champion Saul Alvarez (38-0-1, 28 KO’s) has largely been coddled by his Golden Boy promoters his entire six year pro career, matched against guys that he could blow away, a lot of small and older fighters. He’s faced old warriors like Lovemore N’dou, 40, Carlos Baldomir, 40, and a bunch of small guys like Jose Miguel Cotto, Alfoso Gomez and Matthew Hatton.
Saul Alvarez: Potential next opponents – Erislandy Lara & James Kirkland
By Jason Kim: If WBC junior middleweight champion Saul Alvarez (38-0-1, 28 KO’s) can get by his opponent Kermit Cintron (33-4-1, 28 KO’s) this Saturday night in Mexico, Alvarez has several interesting fights he can choose from starting with a mega fight against World Boxing Council (WBC) middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
Cintron: I’m a better fighter than Saul Alvarez
By Allen Fox: Kermit Cintron has badly under performed in the past couple of years in fights against the likes of Antonio Margarito, Paul Williams, Carlos Molina, Sergio Martinez and Antwone Smith. However, he still thinks he’s a better fighter than WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, who Cintron fights this Saturday night in Mexico.
