By Scott Gilfoid: British light heavyweight champion Tony Bellew (18-1, 12 KO’s) will be fighting next on November 17th on the undercard of IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch’s fight against American Yusaf Mack at the Capital FM Arena, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom.
Bellew, 29, doesn’t have an opponent picked out, but his promoter Eddie Hearn was yapping about Bellew getting a title shot in 2013 and winning it.
By Liam T Smith: I will start this article by referring to a post I read on this site a few days ago. Of course I will not name the writer but the article in question was about current IBF Super Middleweight champion Carl Froch.
The writer spoke about how Froch’s upcoming title defence against Yusaf Mack was a “no win” fight for Froch. He also questioned why no one close to Carl had told him to avoid this fight and instead search for a stronger opponent. His reasons for this were that Carl will not receive enough credit should he defeat a “lesser” opponent and at the same time will probably have to retire should he lose.
By Scott Gilfoid: While it’s painfully obvious that #6 IBF light heavyweight contender Yusaf Mack (31-4-2, 17 KO’s) is out of his class against IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch (29-2, 21 KO’s) in their fight on November 17th, Mack does have a few things in his favor in this fight.
For one, he’s definitely the faster guy in terms of hand speed. He’s a notch above Froch in the hand speed department, which really isn’t saying a whole lot because a lot of guys are faster than Froch. He just doesn’t have a lot of hand speed and that’s okay. Froch just wasn’t blessed with hand speed like Mack.
By Scott Gilfoid: IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch’s loyal boxing fans are going to get to see him in what appears to be a terrible mismatch on November 17th against light heavyweight Yusaf Mack (31-4-2, 17 KO’s) at the Capital FM Arena, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire.
Instead of facing an actual contender in the super middleweight division that could test him and give his boxing fans a great show in the Nottingham Arena and on Sky, Froch will be taking on a guy that has little chance to beat him in 32-year-old Mack. Isn’t this kind of unfair to Froch’s loyal, loving and enduring fans?
By Scott Gilfoid: You have to feel a little sorry for IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch (29-2, 21 KO’s) because he’s about to fight a soft touch in Yusaf Mack (31-4-2, 17 kO’s) on November 17th in Nottingham, England and Froch probably isn’t going to get any credit if and when he beats the 32-year-old Mack.
Why? Because Mack has already been knocked out recently by 42-year-old Glen Johnson and Tavoris Cloud. All Froch is getting is sloppy thirds by taking on a guy that was already knocked out in recent fights. Boxing fans will be like ‘So what’ after Froch beats this guy because Mack has already been beaten badly against Johnson and Cloud.
Another thing to worry about with this mismatch is that if Mack causes Froch to really struggle badly to win the fight, it’s going to make Froch look bad because Cloud and Johnson both dominated Mack with ease. And if Froch loses to Mack, well then he might as well retire because that loss would ruin his rematches against Lucian Bute and Mikkel Kessler.
By Scott Gilfoid: IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch (29-2, 21 KO’s) has what appears to be a nice soft opponent for his next fight on November 17th against Yusaf Mack (31-4-2, 17 KO’s) at the Capital FM Arena, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom. It probably will be a horrible mismatch that boxing fans hate watching unless their idea of entertainment is to watch mismatches.
By Steven Ocallaghan: If any of the current world champions deserve an easier opponent, surely it’s the IBF super middleweight champion “Cobra” Carl Froch (29-2, 21 KO’s). On November 17th, Froch takes on Yusaf Mack in his first title defence.
By Scott Gilfoid: IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch (29-2, 21 KO’s) may be on the last stretch of his career with his upcoming fights against Yusaf Mack (31-4-2, 17 KO’s), Lucian Bute and Mikkel Kessler in his next three fights. If Froch wins all three fights, he’ll likely retire from the sport to go out while things are looking good for him rather than sticking around until things go sour.
By Scott Gilfoid: IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch (29-2, 21 KO’s) is saying really nice things about his opponent Yusaf Mack (31-4-2, 17 KO’s), as Froch tries to drum up interest in his November 17th fight with the overmatched American at the Capital FM Arena, in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom.
