By Dan Ambrose: The February 4th Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. vs. Marco Antonio Rubio fight got a pretty much useless undercard fight added to it on Friday night with the addition of unbeaten junior middleweight contender Vanes Martirosyan (31-0, 19 KO’s) facing 41-year-old journeyman Troy Lowry (28-11, 17 KO’s) in a scheduled 10 round bout at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

By Eric Thomas: Number #1 ranked WBC junior middleweight contender Vanes Matirosyan (30-0, 19 KO’s) is reportedly having second thoughts about facing the dangerous number #3 ranked WBC contender Alfredo Angulo (20-1, 17 KO’s), according to Steve Kim. In his twitter page, Kim said “It looks like Vanes Martirosyan is balking at the deal to face Alfred Angulo on Nov5 for some reason. We’ll see if someone can change or turn Vanes around. Right now, he may be Pavlik’ing his own career.”

For the 21-year-old Alvarez, this could be the last easy fight before he’s faced with the tough task of fighting either Vanes Martirosyan or Alfredo Angulo, both very tough fighters and arguably a lot better than the guys Alvarez has been fighting.
