Byrd impressed with Fury and Price

price422By Scott Gilfoid: Former two time heavyweight champion Chris Byrd is really impressed with what he’s seen of the two giant British heavyweights David Price and Tyson Fury, and he thinks they could be talented fighters in the future if they keep progressing. Byrd believes Price and Fury would give anyone in the division problems, including the Klitschkos.

Speaking with secondsout.com, Byrd said “Well Vitali is 40 something and Wladimir 36. I look at David Price and he’s got a ton of talent. He can pop, he knows how to keep his distance, and he makes you think before you come in. Both these big guys (Price and Fury) can really fight. They are a tough matchup for anybody in the division.”

Fury adds Bisping to the list of MMA fighters he thinks he can beat

fury3342By Scott Gilfoid: Not satisfied after having called out the UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velazquez and being promptly ignored, unbeaten heavyweight contender Tyson Fury (20-0, 14 KO’s) is now calling out British MMA fighter Michael Bisping to try and get a fight with him.

Fury said on his twitter “I think Michael Bisping is a first class p****. Him and Velazquez at the same time couldn’t beat me! My friend KO’d Bisping, ask him. Bisping, you are a wanker who is s*** at fighting, ask anyone. Remember when you got chinned by blond John?”

Bisping: Tyson Fury would be destroyed by Cain Velasquez

fury3By Scott Gilfoid: Earlier today, unbeaten heavyweight contender Tyson Fury (20-0, 14 KO’s) was flapping his gums about wanting to fight UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez and talking about how he can beat him whether it be in the ring or in the cage. The 6’9” Fury then challenged Velazquez.

We’re still waiting to see what the San Jose, California based Velazquez thinks of the idea of fighting Fury. One person thinks it’s a really bad idea for Fury is fellow Brit Michael Bisping, a UBF fighter with good skills. He thinks Fury wouldn’t’ stand a chance against Velasquez unless it was a boxing match.

Fury: If the Klitschkos won’t fight me, I’ll face UFC champion Cain Velazquez

fury1By Scott Gilfoid: Having no luck in getting either of the Klitschko brothers to agree to fight him, 6’9” unbeaten heavyweight contender Tyson Fury (20-0, 14 KO’s) is turning the attention to MMA and is calling out the UBF heavyweight champion 6’1’ Cain Velazquez for a fight on twitter. Fury wants to fight Velazquez, although it’s highly unlikely that Fury is talking about an MMA fight.

I think he wants to fight Velazquez in a boxing match, which is no big deal. It’s not revelation that MMA fighters, even the best ones, can’t compete with actual boxers in fights. It’s a different sport, so Fury isn’t taking any risks in challenging the 6’1” UFC heavyweight champion Velazquez, because this guy is more of wrestler than a boxer. Wrestling is Velaquez’s background and he doesn’t look good at all when he’s in the standing position throwing punches.

Fury hoping to fight Vitali in March

vitali322By Scott Gilfoid: Undefeated #4 WBC Tyson Fury (20-0, 14 KO’s) and his trainer Peter Fury are hoping they can get a fight with WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko as early as March of this year.

Peter Fury said to the Manchester Evening News “If we can get Vitali for March, then we will. We are happy with that, I’m happy to sign up for it. We are ready if Vitali decides to fight on. I can see Tyson winning and keeping hold of the world title.”

I can’t see Fury getting the fight and I definitely don’t see him holding onto any title he gets a hold of unless he avoids all the serious challengers. How can a fighter like Fury win a world title when he won’t even fight Deontay Wilder and David Price?

Fury: I’m bringing the heavyweight crown back to England

fury78By Scott Gilfoid: Undefeated heavyweight contender Tyson Fury (20-0, 14 KO’s) sees himself winning one of the world titles and then bringing the strap back to England in the near future.

Fury said on his twitter “I’m taking the crown bringing it back to England to defend it. The 1st since Lenox Lewis.”

The first since Lennox Lewis? Ah, what about David Haye winning the WBA heavyweight strap. Wasn’t be British and didn’t he bring the World Boxing Association strap back to England after he won a controversial 12 round majority decision over then champion Nikolay Valuev.

Warren wants Fury, Price, Chisora & Haye mini-tourney in 2013 in Football stadium

haye324By Scott Gilfoid: British promoter Frank Warren says he’d like to have the four best British heavyweights facing off in 2013 in a mini-tournament. Warren would like to put them in a large football stadium to accommodate all the boxing fans.

Warren said to thesun.co.uk “Haye, David Price and Tyson Fury are three big men with big question makes over their durability. Add Dereck Chisora…then pair any two in semi-finals with the victors to meet and determine the ‘Don. All would fill football stadiums, but stop dreaming, Frank.”

Fury: I’ll be WBC heavyweight champ soon

fury5By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten Tyson Fury (20-0, 14 KO’s) thinks he’s going to be the next WBC heavyweight champion, and while he’s done a great job of beating the less than impression opposition that his promoter has fed him for the past four years, it doesn’t look like Fury will be picking up the WBC title after the current champion Vitali Klitschko retires.

Fury said of himself on his twitter “Tyson, soon to be WBC champ!”

I think Tyson is a great fighter when it comes to beat 2nd tier opposition, but he’s really lacking in the power department. His last fight against Kevin Johnson earlier this month showed Fury’s flaws loud and clear. Without the power to do anything with the out of shape looking Johnson, Fury ended up slapping his way to an unimpressive 12 round decision.

Haye: I’m too old for Price and Fury; I only want Vitali

haye3243By Scott Gilfoid: If Tyson Fury and David Price were hoping they could get a fight with former WBA heavyweight champion David Price to try and prove themselves and make a name for themselves then they can pretty much forget it, because Haye has zero interest in ever fighting either of them. He only wants 41-year-old WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko and that’s the fight that Haye will be waiting on until the bitter end. He’s locked into waiting for Vitali and he says he’ll retire if he can’t get that fight.

Haye said to I Film London “I’m waiting for the fight [Vitali] to happen. If HE wants the fight to happen…No disrespect to either of them [Fury and Price], they can probably go on to do great things, but I’m too old and too small. I want to fight Vitali. Vitali said he can knock me out. I want him to prove it.”

Arum: Fans want to see Rios-Alvarado 2, not Rios vs. Matthysse

rios54By Chris Williams: Top Rank promoter Bob Arum believes that there is a high demand from boxing fans to see two of Arum’s Top Rank stable fighters former WBA World lightweight champion (31-0-1, 23 KO’s) go back and fight Mike Alvarado (33-1, 23 KO’s) again rather than seeing Rios move forward with his career and fight WBC interim light welterweight champion Lucas Matthysse (32-2, 30 KO’s).

Arum said to the Boxingsocialist.com “It would be really stupid if I did that fight [Matthysse vs. Rios]. The fight everyone wants to see is Rios and Alvarado. Why would I want to put Rios in with a guy that lost to Zab Judah? He’s [Matthysse] not a draw. The fight is not a draw. Matthysse doesn’t sell 10 tickets.”
