Shawn Porter hoping to get Mayweather fight after Brook

porter023By Scott Gilfoid: In his media conference call today, IBF welterweight champion Shawn Porter (24-0-1, 15 KO’s) said that the guy he wants next after he beats Kell Brook (32-0, 22 KOs) is a unification fight against WBA/WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Porter isn’t overlooking Brook, but he’s not all that concerned about him. He’s studied Brook in depth and sees an upright, rigid fighter with a very basic fighting style that he’s going to expose in their fight next month on August 16th at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

Kell Brook: No truth of me being injured for Porter

By Scott Gilfoid: With a little over three weeks to go before August 16th fight between challenger Kell Brook (32-0, 22 KOs) and IBF welterweight champion Shawn Porter (24-0-1, 15 KOs), Brook took to twitter to address the rumors of him being injured and on possibly pulling out of their fight at the StubHub Center, in Carson, California, USA.

Porter: Brook is getting his first loss on August 16th

porter5789900By Scott Gilfoid: IBF welterweight champion Shawn Porter (24-0-1, 15 KOs) expects to hand unbeaten #1 IBF Kell Brook (32-0, 22 KO’s) his first loss of his career on August 16th in their fight at the StubHub Center, in Carson, California, USA. Porter sees Brook as basically just an experienced fighter with a stand-up European style of fighting.

Porter notes that Brook likes to jab and then load up with right hand. Porter doesn’t see anything complicated about Brook, as he does the same thing over and over again against the weak opposition that he’s been matched up against during his 10-year pro career.

The Chris Algieri’s and Shawn Porters of boxing

algieri6By Robert “Big Moe” Elmore: You might be wondering who Shawn Porter and Chris Algieri are. They are actual boxers. Moreover, these are those fighters that no one knows and really don’t give them a chance to win going into a major title fight. Porter upset Devon Alexander and took his IBF title as well.

Chris Algieri beat Ruslan Provodnikov in a WBO junior welterweight title bout. If one were to closely comb through our favorite fighters resume we would find more than a few Shawn and Chris’s on there. While many people dismiss these fighters, these are the most dangerous fighters one can face.

Hearn: When Brook beats Porter, a Khan fight will be massive

brook333By Scott Gilfoid: Kell Brook (32-0, 22 KOs) still hasn’t even fought IBF welterweight champion Shawn Porter (24-0-1, 15 KOs) for his IBF title and yet Brook’s promoter Eddie Hearn can’t keep thinking about a much bigger fight between Brook and Amir Khan that he wants to put together later this year.

Brook faces Porter on August 16th at the StubHub Center in Carson, California. The favorite to win the fight is Porter, who will not only be fighting in front of his own fans, but he’ll also have the advantage in power, inside fighting skills and experience. The deck is heavily stacked in Porter’s favor for this fight, and it’s clearly not looking good for the 28-year-old Brook.

Brook: I’m going to prove to the haters I’m the real deal against Porter

brook123By Scott Gilfoid: #1 IBF Kell Brook (32-0, 22 KO’s) says he wants to shut up his critics by beating IBF welterweight champion Shawn Porter (24-0-1, 15 KO’s) next month on August 16th at the StubHub Center in Carson, California. Brook, 28, is bothered by the fact that few boxing fans give him any chance at beating the American Porter.

Collectively, fans see Brook as faring no better against Porter than Paulie Malignaggi did in getting obliterated in 4 rounds. Many fans think Brook backed out of his scheduled fight against former IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander last year due to a bad case of the nerves.

hearnBy Scott Gilfoid: Matchroom Sport promoter Eddie Hearn believes that IBF welterweight champion Shawn Porter’s fighting style is absolutely perfect for his fighter #1 IBF Kell Brook (32-0, 22 KOs) to knock him out in their fight next month on August 16th at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

Hearn acknowledges that Brook is facing his best opponent of his career in 26-year-old Porter, but he believes that Brook has the gears to shift though to still beat him.

Why Brook Oughta Slaughter Porter

brook6By Matt Plumridge: Hailing from the small island that is the UK we have some good things going for us. Everyone knows or has met the Beatles or the Queen; we like to drink our cups of tea; we stand in line, even when trying to escape from disaster; we all carry around giant red telephone boxes instead of smart phones and very, very occasionally we have a boxer that is ready to head over to the grand old US of A and show you people how to box.

In recent years the UK alumni has included such fistic exponents as Prince Naseem Hamed, Ricky Hatton, Joe Calzaghe, Lennox Lewis and most recently, Amir Khan. When this article is reprinted in about 5 years’ time – due to huge public demand no doubt – it will also include the graduation of a Special K, Ezekiel “Kell” Brook.

Hearn: I can’t see Porter lasting 12 rounds with Brook

porter2By Scott Gilfoid: Eddie Hearn is feeling ultra-confident that Kell Brook (32-0, 22 KO’s) will bag his first big win of his long 10-year career in his title challenge against IBF welterweight champion Shawn Porter (24-0-1, 15 KOs) on August 16h.

Hearn thinks he has the stronger fighter and the bigger guy, and that’s why he thinks that Brook will give Porter his first defeat of his career.

Having seen Brook’s last two fights against Alvaro Robles and Vyacheslav Senchenko, I wasn’t too impressed with what I saw from Brook in those fights. He proved to be easy to hit, and not much in the way of thinking on his feet. Senchenko had Brook staggering around, and Robles was hitting him at will. Luckily for Brook that Robles wasn’t a big puncher and that he was only 5’6”, because if the guy was bigger and stronger, he might have pulled off an upset in that fight.

Porter says Kell Brook has problems fighting on the inside

porter023By Scott Gilfoid: IBF welterweight champion Shawn Porter (24-0-1, 15 KO’s) isn’t spilling his guts about his plan for whipping his #1 IBF challenger Kell Brook (32-0, 22 KO’s) in their fight in September, but he is saying that Brook has big problems when he’s not able to fight at a distance the way he likes to.

Brook doesn’t have long arms, but he prefers to fight at the full distance so that he can get the maximum leverage on his shots. He’s not learned how to fight on the inside during the 10 years as a pro, and this is going to be a new experience for him when he faces Porter.
