Matthew Hatton thinks Kell Brook will beat Porter

brook45453By Scott Gilfoid: Former Kell Brook (32-0, 22 KOs) victim Matthew Hatton is picking Brook to beat IBF welterweight champion Shawn Porter (24-0-1, 15 KOs) this Saturday night in their fight at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

Hatton likes Kell’s talent, and he sees him as being fully ready to beat Porter in front of his own fans in Carson. Brook will be a long way from the UK on Saturday night, and there’s likely going to be few cheers for him in this fight. Brook is used to his fans adoring him and screaming like mad each time he throws a shot.

Porter: Brook can’t fight well on the inside

Shawn Porter(Photo credit: Esther Lin/Showtime) By Scott Gilfoid: IBF welterweight champion Shawn Porter (24-0-1, 15 KOs) isn’t impressed with the inside fighting skills of #1 IBF Kell Brook (32-0, 22 KOs), and he believes that’s an area that he can take advantage of this Saturday night when he faces him at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

Brook tends to stay on the outside most of the time, and when he’s in close he’s not doing much other than holding or wrestling.

Porter also plans on taking Brook deep into the fight to test his stamina, because he notes that he’s not had too many fights go the full distance during his career. This is something that Porter really can’t plan on though, because Brook could fall apart in the early rounds in the same way that Paulie Malignaggi did in getting beaten to a pulp on the inside last April from Porter’s huge shots.

Upcoming fights and their ramifications #1

porter6By Jamie Fairclough: Firstly its been a while since my last article and I hope its not too much of a disappointment. So lets get down to it, there are a number of upcoming fights that are intriguing im going to pick 5 and make this into a series of articles so I can fully explore each fight and the options it opens up.

Kell Brook v Shawn Porter

This is a much tighter match-up than most boxing fans realize, while it Is true Brook has fought his fair share of lets say 2nd and 3rd tier fighters however he has faced Carson Jones and Viacheslav Sencenko who are decent fighters who were hovering around world level.

Kell Brook thinks he’ll KO Porter in 1st round on Saturday

YouTube video
By Scott Gilfoid: It’s been 10 years since #1 IBF Kell Brook (32-0, 22 KOs) turned pro and now after all that time he’ll be finally fighting for a world title for the first time in his career against IBF 147 pound champion Shawn Porter (24-0-1, 15 KOs) on Saturday night at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

It’s a reasonable statement to stay that Brook has fought his share of fodder opposition while building up his impressive looking 32-0 record. But it seems that the wins over easy 2nd and 3rd tier opposition have Brook believing him capable of scoring an easy knockout on Saturday against Porter. In fact, Brook thinks he’ll KO Porter in the 1st round.

Marquez could face Brook-Porter winner in Mexico in late 2014

marquez000005By Chris Williams: Fernando Beltran, the promoter for former 4 division world champion Juan Manuel Marquez (56-7-1, 40 KOs), is hoping to get the winner of the August 16th fight between IBF welterweight champion Shawn Porter (24-0-1, 15 KOs) and challenger Kell Brook (32-0, 22 KOs), to agree to come to Mexico in late 2014 to face Marquez.

Beltran wants to help put the soon to be 41-year-old Marquez in a position where he can capture a 5th division world title. That’s one of the last remaining goals that Marquez has before he steps away from the sport.

Marquez is probably too small to continue past that to try and capture a 6th division world title at 154. Manny Pacquiao was able to win the WBC 154 pound title, but it was under the ideal conditions given that he faced the slow Antonio Margarito in a catch-weight fight at 150 to fight for the then vacant WBC junior middleweight title in 2010 rather than facing some of the guys that were ranked higher than Margarito at the time in the WBC’s rankings like Erislandy Lara and Vanes Martirosyan.

Kell Brook should fight Bundu if he loses to Porter

Kell Brook(Photo credit: Esther Lin/Showtime) By Matthias Predonzan: IBF welterweight title-fight between the champion Shawn Porter and the contender Kell Brook will be stylistically an interesting fight even if, in my opinion, the outcome is quite certain on August 16th at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

Porter is a much stronger opponent for Brook and I believe the fight will be end inside the distance by referee stoppage.

I was really impressed by Porter when he fought Devon Alexander: he out-boxed him and punished him relentlessly for the whole fight. This was surprising to me because Alexander is himself one very good fighter, but he never found the way to solve the problem of Porter’s speed and timing.

Porter’s Team lets Brook’s Team watch Porter spar

Shawn Porter(Photo credit: Esther Lin/Showtime) By Scott Gilfoid: In a sign of how confident Team Shawn Porter is about their man beating challenger Kell Brook (32-0, 22 KOs) a week from now, they let Team Brook sit and watch Porter spar earlier this week. Brook’s trainer Dominic Ingle sat with arms folded in front of him and watched Porter spar a tall fighter with a fighting style somewhat similar to Brook’s style, but with a far better jab than him.

When Porter’s trainer/dad, Ken Porter, was tripped off by a member of the media, Ken said to Thaboxingvoice “Oh man, come on. That’s what we do. All he’s going to do is watch what he’s got to deal with. Getting in there is a whole different thing. I don’t care about that. That’s something you can’t teach and fix in 9 days. It’s too late. He could get up in the corner with me and I could tell him what we’re doing. And there still wouldn’t be nothing he could do about it.”

Brook-Porter: ‘It’s Showtime’ for the Special One

Kell Brook(Photo credit: Esther Lin/Showtime) By Philip Anthony: Finally, following a rollercoaster 18 months of injuries, accusations and cancellations, Kell ‘The Special One’ Brook will get to live out his childhood dream by contesting for the World welterweight title against ‘Showtime’ Shawn Porter on August 16th at the StubHub Centre in Carson, California.

It’s been nearly two years since the Sheffield boxer was first named mandatory challenger for the IBF title. During that spell three scheduled bouts against former champ Devon Alexander failed to materialise due to injuries to both men. Following Brooks latest setback (a fractured metatarsal), Alexander ‘the Great’ moved on and subsequently lost his title to up and coming Ohio native Shawn Porter.

Porter: I’ve faced more challenging fighters than Brook

Shawn Porter(Photo Courtesy of Showtime/Amanda Kwok) By Scott Gilfoid: IBF welterweight champion Shawn Porter (24-0-1, 15 KOs) has thought about his upcoming fight against unbeaten #1 IBF Kell Brook (32-0, 22 KO’s) a lot in the past month, and no matter how hard he tries, he just doesn’t see him being better than the guys he’s faced in the past.

Porter’s studied Brook’s fights in great detail and he doesn’t see the great talent that some of Brook’s loyal fans have been talking about. Porter rates Devon Alexander as being a better than Brook. He also rates some of his other opponents as better than him too, but he didn’t mention who those guys are.

Hearn bellyaching about Kell Brook getting criticized by fans

brook7777By Scott Gilfoid: Kell Brook’s promoter Eddie Hearn was up in arms today about boxing fans taking shots at Brook (32-0, 22 KOs). Fans obviously have been taking shots at Brook left and right about how he twice pulled out of fights against former IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander until the fight was no longer offered to him. Fans also have been on Brook’s case for him having fought largely less than dangerous opposition during his 10-year pro career.

Brook has a target on him right now until he proves himself against IBF 147 pound champion Shawn Porter (24-0-1, 15 KOs) in their fight on August 16th at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.
