What a victory by Khan, Salita obviously isn’t a very good opponent but for him to get destroyed like he did it was impressive.

This fight was non-stop action from the opening bell in round one until the final bell in round 12. Both of these great warriors gave a brilliant performance this night!

By Jim Dower: World Boxing Organization interim light middleweight champion Paul Williams (38-1, 27 KOs) defeated WBC light middleweight champion Sergio Martinez (44-2-2, 24 KOs) by a 12 round majority decision at the Boardwalk Hall, in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Martinez knocked Williams down in the 1st round, but Williams repaid the favor by knocking Martinez down as well. The final judges’ scores for the fight were 115-113, 119-110 and 114-114.

By Sean McDaniel: Light middleweight Paul Williams (37-1, 27 KO’s) weighed in at 157 for his bout tomorrow against Sergio Martinez (44-1-2, 24 KO’s) at the Boardwalk Hall, in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Martinez, 34, weighed 159. Williams was supposed to be fighting World Boxing Council/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavli. However, Pavlik had to back out due to a staph infection on his left hand. Rather than wait around to fight Pavlik later in the month, Williams decided to go ahead and take the fight with Martinez.

By Eric Thomas: With WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik pulling out of a bout with Paul Williams for the second time due to a staph infection on his left hand, it left the 28-year-old Williams in need of a replacement opponent for his December 5th date. It appears that Williams, the interim World Boxing Organization light middleweight champion, has found perhaps even a better opponent the illness plagued Pavlik with WBC light middleweight champion Sergio Martinez (44-1-2, 24 KO’s) reportedly stepping in to take the bout with Williams.

This time, the bout will take place on neutral territory at the Staples Center, in Los Angeles, California. Their previous fight in February 2009 ended up in a controversial 12 round draw which left few fans happy.

By Sean McDaniel: While watching interim WBC light middleweight champion Sergio Martinez (44-1-2, 24 KOs) get royally shafted last week against Kermit Cintron, I couldn’t help but notice that Martinez’s fighting style was remarkably similar to former super middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe, and maybe a little better than Joe in many ways. Martinez looked sensational for most of the fight, moving standing in front of Cintron with his hands down, pot shotting him with fast punches, while avoiding most of Cintron’s huge power shots.

By Scott Gilfoid: Once again, Kermit Cintron (30-2-1, 27 KOs) blows a fight that he easily has the skills to win with his latest flub up, a 12-round draw with Sergio Martinez this past weekend. I don’t know what Cintron’s problem is but whatever it is, I thinking it’s beyond fixing at this point. It was sickening to watch him crumble under the slightest bit of pressure from Martinez, backing off and fighting defensively for much of the fight.
