Roy Jones Jr. vs. Danny Green in December?

By Scott Gilfoid: According to a number of news sources, Roy Jones Jr. (54-5, 40 KO’s) could possibly be fighting former World Boxing Association (WBA) light heavyweight champion Danny Green (27-3, 24 KO’s) on December 2nd, and not November 21st, which was the originally scheduled date for their 12 round bout in Sydney, Australia.

Roy Jones Jr: “Hopkins Has Never Been Impressive Against Nobody”

jones345338By Eric Thomas: In a hilarious interview by Ben Thompson at the Fighthype website, Roy Jones Jr. had a good time telling it like it is ripping apart both Bernard Hopkins and Oscar De La Hoya. Jones, 40, had this to say about Hopkins: “Hopkins don’t look impressive against nobody. Let’s face the music. Hopkins has never been impressive.” Jones then went on to correctly point out that Hopkins usually wins his fights by wearing down his opponents rather than stopping them with one punch or outclassing them like Jones unusually does.

Where Does Roy Jones Jr. Go From Here?

jones4349By Adam Fillingham: Ring legend Roy Jones Jr. put on a fanatical performance against a past his best Jeff Lacy last weekend. Jones pulled it out of the bag and for me won every round against the 32 year old. This is all well and good but where does he go from here. A fight with Danny Green is all but signed up for and the pair could go toe to toe on the 21st of November. Green is a good but not great fighter that has fought no one of much calibre in his 8 year career. He also chose to retire instead of defending his WBA light heavyweight belt.

Great Mistakes: The Jones vs. Hopkins Debate

jones5433By Brian Kenneth Blackwell: After re-watching the 1993 bout between Roy Jones Jr. and Bernard Hopkins, as well as analyzing the two in recent matches, I believe it is evident that it would be a huge mistake for Bernard to take this fight. In no way am I downplaying any of Bernard’s accomplishments, or his ability as a fighter, because I know I certainly could not go 10 seconds with the man, as he would probably back me in, and fire the same shot that floored both Antonio Tarver, and Joe Calzaghe, and I would be out for a day or so. But as good as he is, or ever was, he simply does not have the athleticism to compete with a boxer of Roy’s caliber or boxing style.

Roy Jones Jr. Makes Offer to Fight Bernard Hopkins – News

jones3423By Jim Dower: On the Calvin Murphy show today, Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones Jr. called in and ended up battling it out in a back and forth hilarious argument. Jones, 40, offered to fight Hopkins with the winner getting 60% and the loser 40% of the revenue. However, Hopkins was having none of it, insisting that Jones take 40%. Near the end of the call, Jones went even further, saying that the two fighters could fight in a winner take all bout with the victor getting everything. At that point, Hopkins clearly not interested, hung up.

Is Jones really fooling anyone?

jones454556By Matt Flanagan: Last Saturday Roy Jones became the first fighter to stop Jeff Lacy. Anyone who has seen the fight cannot deny that the manner of Jones’ victory was impressive. He won every round, was never really troubled with Lacy having no answer to his hand speed and superior technical ability. His performance seemed to have the commentators and fans drooling, falling over themselves to proclaim that Jones ‘is back’.

Why Isn’t Roy Jones Jr. Trying to Fight Tarver or Johnson?

By Chris Williams: Okay, Roy Jones Jr. (54-5, 40 KO’s) looked good last Saturday night in beating up a shot Jeff Lacy and stopping him in the 10th round, but let’s not get carried away here. This was Lacy, who hasn’t been the same fighter he was back before losing to Joe Calzaghe and suffering a shoulder injury in his fight against Vitali Tsypko.

Jones Stops Lacy, Still Looks Shot

jones433543By Jim Dower: Although former 8-time champion Roy Jones Jr. (54-5, 40 KO’s) was able to reach back for some of his old glory on Saturday night with a 10th stoppage victory over former International Boxing Federation (IBF) super middleweight champion Jeff Lacy (25-3, 17 KO’s) at the Coast Coliseum, in Biloxi, Mississippi, Jones still looked like a shot fighter in there. Let’s be honest here.
