By Dan Ambrose: September will see a pair of mismatches by WBC champions Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (43-0-1, 30 KO’s), the WBC middleweight champ, and Saul Alvarez (37-0-1, 27 KO’s), the WBC junior middleweight title holder. Both Chavez and Alvarez are hugely popular in their native country of Mexico, and it doesn’t seem to matter that neither of them has ever fought anyone even slightly dangerous.

Chavez Jr. to try and fight Hearns on the inside
By Dan Ambrose: WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (43-0-1, 30 KO’s) has already given away his main strategy to beat the slender 6’3″ challenger Ronald Hearns (26-2, 20 KO’s) on September 17th at the Palenque, in Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico. The 25-year-old Chavez Jr. is going to try and fight the lanky Hearns on the inside rather than taking his chances against the much better right hand from Hearns on the outside.
Chavez Jr. vs. Hearns: This could be a big mistake for Julio
By Dan Ambrose: Bad things can happen when you take a mediocre champion like WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr (43-0-1, 30 KO’s) and put him in with a guy that can punch like Ronald Hearns on September 17th.
Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. likely to have huge weight advantage against Ronald Hearns on September 17th
By Dan Ambrose: In looking at photos of the face to face meeting between WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr (43-0-1, 30 KO’s) and challenger Ronald Hearns (26-2, 20 KO’s) to publicize their fight next month on September 17th at the Palengue, Cuiliacan, Sinaloa, Mexico, Chavez Jr. is looking absolutely huge. In standing next to the slender 6’3″ Hearns, Chavez Jr. looks to be weighing at least 190. How Chavez Jr can still be fighting at middleweight as big as he’s gotten really baffles me.
Roach to work with Chavez Jr for one week leading up to Hearns fight on 9/17
By Dan Ambrose: WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr (43-0-1, 30 KO’s) is only going to have the benefit of working with his famous trainer Freddie Roach for the last week of his training camp for his September 17th fight against 32-year-old Ronald Hearns (26-2, 20 KO’s) at the Palenque, Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico.
Chávez Jr-Hearns: Julio a Mexican Legend in the Making?
By Bradley Pearson: With a combined record of 168-11-3 (134 KO’s) and 14 world titles, Mexican legend Julio César Chávez and Detroit “Hitman” Thomas Hearns have undoubtedly earned “royalty” status within the sport of boxing. Both with a string of memorable fights that will be embedded in the history of the sport for eternity; whether its Hearns brutal first round with Marvin Hagler, or Chávez’ last gasp comeback knockout of Meldrick Taylor in 1990- it didn’t take long for either to become household names, not only in their native country, but worldwide.

Sturm vs. Hearns to be shown on ESPN3 in U.S on Saturday
By Jason Kim: If you live in the United States and you’re interested in seeing WBA Super World middleweight champion Felix Sturm (34-2-1, 14 KO’s) fight the #12 ranked WBA contender Ronald Hearns (26-1, 20 KO’s) on Saturday night, you’re in luck because the fight will reportedly picked up by ESPN3 and shown in the U.S. The fight will be taking place at the Porsche Arena, in Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg, Germany, and it will be the 9th title defense by the 32-year-old Sturm.
Sturm vs. Hearns: Felix needs to step it up at some point in his career
By Michael Lieberman: WBA Super World middleweight champion Felix Sturm (34-2-1, 14 KO’s) has been a champion off and on since 2006, but has done precious little over the years in facing high level fighters. Sturm, 32, has gotten a reputation for milking his title against the easiest opponents possible in order to prolong his time as a champion. It may have worked, but has cost him by keeping him an almost unknown champion.
Sturm vs. Hearns on 2/19
By Dan Ambrose: WBA Super middleweight champion Felix Sturm (24-2-1, 14 KO’s) is continuing with his habit of taking on weak opposition for his non-mandatory title defenses when he takes on 2nd tier middleweight Ronald Hearns (26-1, 20 KO’s) on February 19th at the Porsche Arena, in Stuttguart, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany. This is yet another disappointing opponent for the 31-year-old Sturm, who seems as if he’s devoted his career to milking his WBA title for all it’s worth.
