Martin Murray faces Jarrod Fletcher on February 1st for vacant WBA 160 lb. title

MARTIN MURRAY will look to fulfill his dream of becoming St Helens’ first ever world champion in Monte Carlo on February 1.

The popular middleweight, 31, will take on Australia’s highly rated Jarrod Fletcher for the vacant WBA title at Salle des Etoiles and will be hoping to make it third time lucky.

Murray has contested world honours twice already, drawing with Felix Sturm in December 2011 and controversially being outpointed by Sergio Martinez in April this year.

Golovkin battles Osumanu Adama on 2/1

John McCallum vs. Adam Grabiec on December 7th

Edinburgh’s Golden Boy John McCallum takes the long trip from Edinburgh to London next week for his first title bout when he takes on Baltic Champion Adam Grabiec for the International Masters Light- Middleweight title.

McCallum only recently penned a deal with Goodwin Promotions head honcho Steve Goodwin and this will be his second fight under the Goodwin banner.

Showtime wants Mayweather-Pacquiao mega-fight

By Sal Arteaga: Showtime Executive Vice President Stephen Espinoza has turned the television network into boxing’s premier broadcast by producing high quality boxing events. He’s done so by attracting top level talent none bigger than pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather (45-0, 26 KO’s) who signed an exclusive six fight deal with the network.

Four fights remain in the Showtime-Mayweather contract. The next fight is scheduled for May 3rd against likely opponent Amir Khan, to be followed by a September 13rd bout against a to be determined opponent. One name seems to have reemerged once again as a possible candidate– Manny Pacquiao (55-5, 38 KO’s). After his dominant victory over two division champion Brandon Rios (31-2, 23 KO’s), the Filipino superstar along with his promoter (Top Rank) made it known they would like to challenge the pound-for-pound king.
