By Manuel Perez: If Miguel Cotto (32-1, 26 KOs) gets by Michael Jennings (46-5, 39 KOs) this Saturday night at the Madison Square Garden, in New York, New York, the one fighter that Cotto probably won’t be facing is WBA welterweight champion Shane Mosley. In the recent conference call interview with Cotto and his promoter Bob Arum, both Cotto seemed to side step around questions about whether Cotto would be fighting Mosley if Shane defeats Jennings.

Jennings Ready To Defeat Cotto
By Jim Dower: British welterweight Michael Jennings (34-1, 16 KOs) finds himself facing some very tough odds in facing former WBA welterweight champion Miguel Cotto (32-1, 26 KOs) for the vacant WBO welterweight title on Saturday night at the Madison Square Garden, in New York, New York. Jennings, 31, will be facing one of the strongest and biggest punchers in the welterweight division in the 28-year-old Cotto.
Cotto vs. Jennings: Will Miguel’s Chin Hold Up?
By Jim Dower: I think Miguel Cotto is asking for big trouble in taking on a fighter as tough as Michael Jennings (34-1, 16 KOs) this early after Miguel’s 11th round beat down against Antonio Margarito last July. While that may seem like a long time for some people, it’s not long at all when you consider how badly Cotto was beaten in that fight. He took a horrendous beating in that fight, leaving his face, nose and eyes covered in blood.

Brook Destroys Elwell, Eyeing Cotto & Jennings
By Nate Anderson: Undefeated BBBofC British welterweight champion Kell Brook (19-0, 12 KOs) was too much for Stuart Elwell (12-4, 1 KOs) on Friday night, knocking him down twice and stopping him in the 2nd round of a scheduled 12-round bout at the York Hall, Bethnal Green, in London. Brook, 22, making his 2nd defense of his British welterweight crown, knocked Elwell down twice in the 1st round with short left hooks to the head. In the 2nd round, staggered Elwell twice with hard right hands to the head.
Cotto’s Stock Increased With Mosley’s Win
By Matt Stein: If there’s anyone whose stock was increased this past weekend, it was Miguel Cotto (32-1, 26 KOs), who with his previous 12-round unanimous decision over Shane Mosley in November 2007, has to be seen as the fighter to beat in the welterweight division. Cotto, 28, may have lost by an 11th round TKO to Margarito in 2008, but he fought him incredibly tough and he did it by not clinching constantly in the manner that Mosley did in beating Margarito.
Cotto vs. Margarito II In June?
By Eric Thomas: In the latest news from the rumor mill, Miguel Cotto (32-1, 26 KOs) may be facing Antonio Margarito (37-6, 27 KOs) in June for a rematch of their July 2008 fight. It would, of course, depend on Cotto successfully beating British welterweight Michael Jennings in their fight on February 21st for the vacant World Boxing Organization welterweight title. It was thought that Cotto would be facing either Shane Mosley or possibly the winner of the May 2nd fight between Manny Pacquiao and Ricky Hatton, but the word has it that Bob Arum wants to go ahead with the Cotto-Margarito fight instead.
