By Dave Lahr: Former World Boxing Organization super flyweight champion Marvin Sonsona (14-0-1, 12 KO’s) will face Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. (17-0-1, 14 KO’s) this Saturday night for the vacant WBO super bantamweight title at the Coliseo Ruben Rodriguez, Bayamon, Puerto Rico. Both of these fighters are terribly flawed at this point in their young careers, and it’s hard to imagine that the winner of this fight will be able to hold down the WBO title for more than a defense or two without losing it to someone. Sonsona, 19, is a skinny slugger who got by on his power alone while fighting at super flyweight.

Lennox Lewis predicts Kessler victory; Sonsona vacates title – News
By Eric Thomas: Former heavyweight champion of the world Lennox Lewis is picking WBA super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler (42-1, 32 KO’s) to be victorious tonight in his Super Six tourney bout against challenger Andre Ward (20-0, 13 KO’s). Lewis, who retired from boxing in 2003, said this to Sporten.dk: “Mikkel Kessler is naturally a favorite. He has experience on its side. He has witnessed several major battles and tried many different styles of boxing than Andre Ward has, it sounds fine praise from one of the biggest box meaning names.”

Sonsona and Viloria Could Be Fighting on Same Card in Manila – News
By Manuel Perez: There’s a strong possibility that WBO super flyweight champion Marvin Sonsona (14-0, 12 KO’s) and international Boxing Federation light flyweight title holder Brian Viloria (26-2, 15 KO’s) could be fighting on the same card in Manila early next year, according to Gman News. It sounds great, right? Well, I was hoping that they would be fighting each other, so that one of them could get wiped out. Right now, I’d favor the young 19-year-old Sonsona by a 1st round knockout.
I wasn’t Impressed by Sonsona
By Manuel Perez: With a ton of people crowing about how good the newly crowned World Boxing Organization super flyweight Marvin Sonsona (14-0, 12 KO’s) is, I thought this would be a good time for me to shed some light on my own thoughts about him after seeing his poor performance against Jose Lopez last Friday night at the Casino Rama, in Ontario, Canada.
