Rubio: I’m coming to KO Golovkin

rubio022By Dan Ambrose: Marco Antonio Rubio (59-6-1, 51 KOs) plans on spoiling WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin’s trip to California this Saturday by knocking him out in their fight on HBO Championship Boxing at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

Rubio believes he’s the hardest puncher that Golovkin has ever fought before in his 7-year pro career, and he could very well be correct about that. The biggest puncher that Golovkin is Curtis Stevens, and he failed to make it past the 8th round.

While Rubio is a huge underdog in this fight, you have to consider him a threat to beat Golovkin due to his punching power and his aggressive style of fighting.

Golovkin-Rubio & Donaire-Walters next Saturday, October 18th at StubHub Center, Carson, California

golovkinBy Chris Williams: Next Saturday night on October 18th, WBA Super World middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (30-0, 27 KOs) will be in the ring hoping to put on a good performance in his “Mexican Style” fight against WBC interim middleweight champion Marco Antonio Rubio (59-6-1, 51 KOs) on HBO World Championship Boxing from increasingly popular venue at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

The Golovkin-Rubio fight will likely be overshadowed by the co-feature bout pitting WBA Super World featherweight champion Nonito Donaire (33-2, 21 KOs) against power house Nicholas Walters (24-0, 20 KOs). For me, this is the real headliner fight because it matches a young up and coming star in Walters against the heavily hyped former three division world champion Donaire.

It was only two years ago when Donaire was awarded the 2012 Fighter of the Year award by boxing writers for his victories over Jorge Arce, Jeffrey Mathebula, Toshiaki Nishioka and Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. Things have changed for Donaire since then.

Golovkin: Rubio is a Mexican fighter, so it’s going to be a fight

golovkin994By Dan Ambrose: Marco Antonio Rubio (59-6-1, 51 KOs) may have failed every time he stepped it up against high quality opposition during his boxing career, but WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (30-0, 27 KOs) still expects him to make it a difficult fight for him next week in their clash on October 18th on HBO at the StubHub Center, in Carson, California, USA.

Golovkin sees Rubio as a tough Mexican fighter with excellent power and a dangerous left hand that he’s going to need to be watchful for in this fight.

Rubio, 34, has gained a lot of confidence from being pumped up by his trainer Robert Garcia, who believes strongly that the hard hitting Rubio has a good chance of pulling off an upset in beating Golovkin.

Robert Garcia: Rubio will beat Golovkin because of his Mexican blood running through his veins

golovkinBy Dan Ambrose: Marco Antonio Rubio’s trainer Robert Garcia has it all figured out why he feels his fighter will be able to conquer the odds this month and defeat WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (30-0, 27 KOs) on October 18th at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

According to Garcia, Rubio (59-6-1, 51 KOs) will beat Golovkin because of the Mexican blood in his veins, as well as because of his training. Garcia says Golovkin has the “Mexican Style,” but Rubio has the Mexican blood and that he feels will be the telling factor in Rubio beating the odds to defeat Golovkin in their fight on HBO on 10/18.

“He’s [Rubio] training hard, he’s motivated, and he’s got Mexican blood running through his veins, not just ‘Mexican style,’” Garcia said to esnewsreporting.com. “He’s got Mexican blood and that makes a big difference.”

Golovkin is a pretty talented fighter and it’s hard to see him losing to Rubio, who isn’t considered to be the top fighter in the division. Golovkin rates Rubio over the likes of Sam Soliman, Daniel Jacobs, Peter Quillin and Miguel Cotto, but not too many other people do.
