Golovkin-Rubio tickets hard to find, Loeffler wants additional seating

golovkinBy Dan Ambrose: Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions is hoping to get additional seating opening up for the October 18th fight between WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (30-0, 27 KOs) and Marco Antonio Rubio (59-6-1, 51 KOs) at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

The tickets have reportedly sold out for the fight, so Loeffler is looking to add bleacher seats so that more tickets can be sold. There’s still three weeks to go before the fight, and they can sell a lot more tickets before then.

“Met with @StubHubCenter yesterday, trying to figure out how to add more tix for Oct 18 for @gggboxing vs @MAVenenoRubio on @HBOboxing,” Loeffler said on his twitter.

In hindsight, Loeffler should have opted for a bigger venue than the StubHub Center, which has a seating capacity of 27,000. But Loeffler had no way of knowing that there would be this kind of demand for the tickets for the fight.

Rubio is obviously pulling in a lot of fans from the area, and a lot of new fans want to see Golovkin fight with his “Mexican Style”, which is what they’ve named the fight card. It’s just a great overall fight card from top to bottom with former three division world champion Nonito Donaire facing Nicholas Walters in the co-feature bout, and Edwin Rodriguez battling Azea Augustama. These are three great fights for the card to go along with the exciting main event between Golovkin and Rubio.

The winner of the Golovkin-Rubio fight is going to be putting pressure on WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto to either fight them or give up his WBC belt. Rubio’s WBC interim middleweight title will be on the line in the fight. Golovkin would like nothing better than to capture that belt and then be in position to exert a lot of pressure on Cotto or Saul “Canelo Alvarez, should he defeat Cotto in their proposed fight in May of next year.

“Bleacher seats now available for $53 for @gggboxing vs @MAVenenoRubio Oct 18 @StubHubCenter at http://www.axs.com to purchase,” Loeffler said.
