Haye suffers hand injury, pulls out of Charr fight

By Scott Gilfoid: Well, I knew it was too good to true. Former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (26-2, 24 KO’s) has reportedly suffered a hand injury while training for his now cancelled June 29th fight against Germany’s Manuel Charr (23-1, 13 KO’s) at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, UK.

The injury was bad enough to where the 32-year-old Haye needed to pull out of the bout completely so that he can rest his hand for 1 month before deciding what he wants to do next.

Haye said nothing about whether he’ll attempt to reschedule the bout, although it does seem unlikely given his silence on the subject.

Charr using Haye as a stepping stone to get to Vitali

charr2By Scott Gilfoid: It’s not personal with #8 WBC Manuel Charr (23-1, 13 KO’s). He’s using the rusty and small former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (26-2, 24 KO’s) as a stepping stone to get another shot at WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko next year.

Charr was beaten last September by Vitali after he suffered a cut that caused the fight to be stopped early. Charr’s plan for that fight was to take the aging 41-year-old Vitali deep and then drown him in the later rounds when Vitali fades.

Charr and Haye fight next month on June 29th at the Manchester Arena in the UK. While Haye thinks Charr is slow and easy to hit, Charr sees Haye as someone that is just too light in weight to do anything to him.

Haye: Charr is slow; I’ll tee off on him when he covers up

haye24By Scott Gilfoid: Former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (26-2, 24 KO’s) intends on teeing off on his painfully slow and lead–footed hand-picked opponent Manuel Charr (23-1, 13 KO’s) in their fight next month on June 29th at the Manchester Arena (formerly M.E.N Arena), in Manchester, Lancashire, United Kingdom.

Haye sees Charr as just another one of the many slow-footed German based fighters and he intends on blasting him out quick as soon as Charr covers up like he usually does when he fights.

Haye said to Sky Sports News “His feet are slow and like a lot of German-based heavyweights he tends to fight at a leisurely pace and he takes turns to punch…when he covers up, I’ll tee off on him so quickly he’ll think he’s being surrounded.”

Haye looking to KO Charr on June 29th in Manchester

haye45234By Scott Gilfoid: Former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (26-2, 24 KO’s) is looking to score a knockout to get his wide-bodied opponent Manuel Charr (23-1, 13 KO’s) out of there as well as possible in their fight on June 29th in Manchester, UK.

Haye, 32, doesn’t to let Charr hang around and maybe get lucky and pull off a knockout of his own. As bad as Charr is as a fighter, he still could cause Haye problems if he lets him hang around for too long.

Why Haye-Charr is actually a good thing

charr3222By Dallas: With it now clear that David Haye’s opponent for his June 29th comeback will be Manuel Charr certain quarters were immediately rolling their eyes claiming that Haye had opted for an easy opponent and that this would not make for an interesting fight. I would disagree with this sentiment.

For starters, this will be a good fight to promote and is almost the perfect bout for the Haymaker’s return. The British boxing fans are already aware of who Charr is thanks to his ‘invasion’ of Haye/ Chisora post-fight press conference, Charr seemed to handle himself well and also seemed to know what he wanted. Haye might have seemed to have been dismissive of Charr at that moment but he did make an impact.

Haye-Charr on June 29th in Manchester, UK

haye44444By Joe Walker: The “Hayemaker” David Haye (26-2, 24 KO’s) has confirmed that he will face 28 year old “Diamond Boy” Manuel Charr (23-1, 13 KO’s) in Manchester on the 29th of June at the Manchester Arena. Also Haye, 32, has made a commercial relationship with boxing promoter Eddie Hearn Of Matchroom Sports. People have criticized that Charr is a weak fight for Haye to come back on, which I believe to be rubbish.

Charr is tough fighter that knows the game well. His only loss was to WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko in September of last year in a fight where Charr was halted in the 4th round on cuts. Charr is ranked #8 by WBC.

David Haye vs. Manuel Charr confirmed for June 29th at the Manchester Arena in UK

charr2By Scott Gilfoid: Former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (26-2, 24 KO’s) has decided to take a soft opponent after all for his next fight. Haye, 32, is reportedly facing #8 WBC, Manuel Charr 23-1, 13 KO’s) for his next fight on June 29th at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, UK.

Charr may be ranked by the World Boxing Council in the top 10, but that’s the only sanctioning body that has him ranked in the top 15, and he’s clearly a 2nd tier/3rd tier fighter. I see him as just a tad bit above 3rd tier in terms of talent, and I’m so not surprised that Haye is fighting him.

This is a classic, record-padding fight for Haye and so, so typical of him.

Haye targeting Wawrzyk, not Charr for June 29th fight

haye34334By Scott Gilfoid: Former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (26-2, 24 KO’s) reportedly has zero interest in Manuel Charr in Haye’s next fight on June 29th at the Manchester Arena in the UK. Instead, the word is from the Telegraph that Haye wants to fight unbeaten and untested Andrew Wawrzyk (27-0, 13 KO’s).

This is a nice safe pick for Haye to keep him from getting beaten again. As I mentioned previously, I don’t expect Haye to fight anyone good in the top 15 before he gets a title shot because that’s not been his pattern. He took the safe path to get his title against Nikolay Valuev, and now it looks like he’s taking the safe path again against the 25-year-old Wawrzyk.

Charr head of the list for David Haye’s next opponent on June 29th

cid_FAB59DED-B5ED-4071-8886-C8AE5E82BE1C@fritzBy Scott Gilfoid: #8 WBC heavyweight contender Manuel Charr (23-1, 13 KO’s) is reportedly at the top of the list for David Haye’s comeback fight on June 29th at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, UK.

Haye’s manager/trainer Adam Booth had been talking about there being five unbeaten top contenders that they were looking at to pick from for Haye’s next fight, but it’s looking like the once-beaten 28-year-old Charr could be the guy that gets the fight, according to the Sun.

Charr: Haye can stop looking for his next opponent; I’m right here

cid_FAB59DED-B5ED-4071-8886-C8AE5E82BE1C@fritzBy Scott Gilfoid: #8 WBC heavyweight contender Manuel Charr (23-1, 13 KO’s) says he’s willing to step up to the plate and be David Haye’s next opponent for his comeback fight on June 29th in Manchester, England.

Charr, 28, attempted previously to get a fight with Haye by calling him out after Haye, #1 WBA, #4 IBF, #4 WBO, #5 WBC, defeated Dereck Chisora last July. Charr crashed the post-fight press conference and challenged Haye to fight him.

Haye instead of saying get lost, he tactically blew him off by telling Charr to call his manager Adam Booth to set up the fight. Haye then went into retirement.
