By Babatis Banda: Enough with the accusations, the name calling and rivalry that clearly developed over the past few months as a result of the failed negotiations between the Philippine star, Manny Pacquiao and one American boxer, Floyd Mayweather Junior. While there has been a heated debate about the failed negotiations for months, there are no signs that the debate will die out soon. It is an indication that this is the hotly awaited bout of the decade. While there seems to be a stalemate over who is to blame, one thing for sure is that an assessment of both fighters’ abilities may indicate who has an edge over the other if this epic bout ever happens.

Roach thinks he has a plan for Pacquiao to beat Mayweather
By Dave Lahr: Trainer Freddie Roach prides himself in his ability to dissect his fighter’s opponents and come up with a plan to beat them. Roach is usually blessed with talented fighters in matches that they are almost guaranteed to win even before the first punch is thrown. However, I think Roach is going to come up empty when and if his fighter Manny Pacquiao fights Floyd Mayweather Jr. “I’ve almost got the fight plan finished for Floyd,” Roach said in an article by Mike Marley of Examiner.com. “I have and it’s still the big fight that we want, that Manny wants. I know Manny can beat Floyd and maybe he is the only guy who can defeat Mayweather.”

Mayweather vs. Pacquiao could be getting made
By Jason Kim: According to Michael Marley of Examiner.com, he believes that the mega fight between WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. is getting made. Marley believes that after seeing Arum and noticing his smile and smirk. Marley says he’s watched Arum for 40 years and knows him really well. He feels that judging by how happy Arum has been lately that the fight is likely close to being made. Marley says that Pacquiao will be flying into New York next Wednesday and he thinks that the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight will be pretty much finalized by that point.
Pacquiao’s options: Cotto or Margarito if Mayweather fight doesn’t get made
By Dave Lahr: Manny Pacquiao’s backup fight options are less than appealing if he can’t get a fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. According to Greg Leon of Boxing Talk, Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum is saying that Pacquiao won’t fight WBA junior middleweight champion Yuri Foreman if he beats Miguel Cotto on June 5th, because Pacquiao thinks that Foreman is “Too tall.” That means that unless Pacquiao and Arum can negotiate a fight with Mayweather, we’re looking at Pacquiao fighting either Cotto or Antonio Margarito. Frankly, I don’t want to see either of those fights. What a sad way to go out.

There’s no real need for money anymore and any bit of extra money that he’ll get in his final fights with Floyd Mayweather Jr. or Antonio Margarito, Miguel Cotto or Yuri Foreman would be like an extra topping. With that said, why doesn’t Pacquiao just give in on the random blood testing that Mayweather wants and also let him have the bigger purse split to make sure the fight gets made.

By Jason Kim: It’s looking like a potential fight between WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. might not happen unless Pacquiao is willing to agree to the full random blood tests, which he previously hasn’t been willing to do, and accept a smaller cut of the revenue. Those things seem pretty simple for an average fighter to do, since they would realize that, in the end, it would be well worth it to accept a slightly smaller purse split and agree to the troubles of having their blood and urine tested periodically in order to get a huge payday of around $40 million.

By Dave Lahr: Manny Pacquiao and his promoter Bob Arum were hoping that they could get the original 50-50 share of the purse for a fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. However, that doesn’t look like it’s going to happen now. Mayweather reportedly wants the bigger cut of the revenue due to his better pay-per-view numbers for his fight with Shane Mosley on May 1st of this year. Mayweather brought in 1.4 million PPV buys, which was double the 700,000 for Pacquiao’s recent fight against Joshua Clottey.
Mayweather-Pacquiao: A 52-48 Purse Split in Favor of Floyd Might Get It Done
By Giancarlo Malinconico: It has leaked from several sources that Floyd Mayweather is now demanding a bigger share of the revenue split if a bout is to emerge with Manny Pacquiao. A 52-48 split in favor of Mayweather seems to be the perfect resolution to the purse-split dispute between “Money” and Pacquiao for a mega showdown later this year. Although both parties must still agree on a cutoff date for random blood testing, 52-48 might work because Floyd would be receiving the bigger revenue share while Pacquiao would still earn much more money than he would in a bout with Antonio Margarito, or any other fighter for that matter.
