Arum thinks Margarito will be the “toughest guy” Pacquiao has ever fought – News

Image: Arum thinks Margarito will be the "toughest guy" Pacquiao has ever fought - NewsBy John Martinez, Ironboxing.com – On November 13, a fight fan’s dream will come to fruition. Former welterweight beltholder and banger, Antonio Margarito will take on current WBO welterweight strong man, Manny Pacquiao in a junior middleweight showdown for the World Boxing Council bragging rights.

Margarito will enter this fight with not only a sizable advantage over his foe in physical stature, but also with a new teacher in former champion, Robert Garcia. With Garcia as his strategist,” Large Marge” will be armed with a trainer that won’t be so quick to utilize Antonio’s fan favorite style of “take three hits to give one” approach. “…before me, he (Margarito) just wanted to beat on somebody,” Garcia continued, he was like ‘wait till I hit you; you will feel me..’”

Is Pacquiao afraid of Marquez?

Image: Is Pacquiao afraid of Marquez?By Dave Lahr: Ever since Juan Manuel Marquez gave Manny Pacquiao a major hiding in their last fight in 2008, Marquez hasn’t been able to get Pacquiao to even consider getting back in the ring for a third fight. Now why is that? Could it be that Pacquiao doesn’t want any more from Marquez after getting beaten up, staggered and pretty well dominated in their two fights?

Marquez deserves a third shot against Pacquiao, but will likely have to settle for Khan

Image: Marquez deserves a third shot against Pacquiao, but will likely have to settle for KhanBy Chris Williams: There’s little question that WBA/WBO lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez (51-5-1, 37 KO’s) deserves a third fight against Manny Pacquiao, but unfortunately because Marquez doesn’t fight for Top Rank and Bob Arum hasn’t been particularly interested in matching Pacquiao back up with Marquez, boxing fans will likely have to settle for watching Marquez chase WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan around the ring for 12 round this December. Compared to the unlicensed Antonio Margarito, Marquez is much more deserving of a fight against Pacquiao, but that’s meaningless because Arum doesn’t seem at all interested in putting Pacquiao back in with Marquez.

Why didn’t Arum match Pacquiao against Berto, Paul Williams or Bradley instead of Margarito?

Image: Why didn't Arum match Pacquiao against Berto, Paul Williams or Bradley instead of Margarito?By Peter Wells: Manny Pacquiao had plenty of options for his next fight, such as Paul Williams, Andre Berto and Timothy Bradley, which would have all been very intriguing fights for hardcore boxing fans. But Bob Arum only had two fighters on his mind – Antonio Margarito and Miguel Cotto – both promoted in Arum’s Top Rank stable. These were the only fighters Bob mentioned putting fights together with Pacquiao.

Pacquiao needs to fight Marquez-Diaz winner, not Cotto again

Image: Pacquiao needs to fight Marquez-Diaz winner, not Cotto againBy Chris Williams: Instead of fighting a needless rematch against Miguel Cotto in 2011, Manny Pacquiao needs to go after the winner of the lightweight clash between Juan Manuel Marquez vs. Juan Diaz, a fight which will be taking place this Saturday night at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Most boxing fans feel that Marquez should easily win the fight against Diaz, and that will put Marquez in a good position for a third fight with Pacquiao, if the Filipino fighter will agree to take it. He probably won’t, though.

With Steady Support from many in the Media, can Anyone Really be Surprised that Mayweather is not “Desperate” to battle Pacquiao?

Image: With Steady Support from many in the Media, can Anyone Really be Surprised that Mayweather is not “Desperate” to battle Pacquiao?By Giancarlo Malinconico: With unconditional supporters in media like David Mayo of the Grand Rapids Press, who has almost become the personal spokesman of Floyd Mayweather’s camp, and Tim Smith of the Daily News, who never has anything critical to say about Floyd Jr., are people really surprised that Mayweather has been able to, with minimal scrutiny, duck the biggest bout in boxing history with the Fighter-of-the-Decade Award Winner and the current Ring Pound-for-Pound Best fighter in the world Manny Pacquiao?

Does Floyd Mayweather Jr. fear Manny Pacquiao?

Image: Does Floyd Mayweather Jr. fear Manny Pacquiao?By Simon Sheppard: First let’s define fear. Fear invokes the the primal instinct in all of us. The primal instinct of self preservation. In such a basic sense, the answer to the question is no.

But let’s delve further and add some components to our definition before we go on. Two things: the fear of losing and being humiliated…….and the fear of getting hurt.

Pacquiao vs. Margarito: Bob Arum’s Big Mistake

Image: Pacquiao vs. Margarito: Bob Arum’s Big MistakeBy Christian Ramos: Nobody wants to see it. Bob Arum doesn’t care. But, unless a miraculous turn of events comes about, Manny Pacquiao and Antonio Margarito are on their way to fighting each other on November 13.

From a boxing point of view, having Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather fight next year actually buys the sport another year’s worth of fans and publicity. Think about it, if they fight and Floyd wins, it would be the 6th time Manny Pacquiao was in the ring and did not win. Floyd would go on to be the greatest of this era, and PacMan would be considered to be an overrated and protected fighter.

Does it matter if Mayweather is afraid of Pacquiao if he still whips him with ease?

Image: Does it matter if Mayweather is afraid of Pacquiao if he still whips him with ease?By Chris Williams: I don’t believe for a second that Floyd Mayweather Jr. is afraid of Manny Pacquiao, but let’s pretend that Mayweather is afraid of Pacquiao for the sake of argument. So what if Mayweather is afraid of him? Fear is a natural thing, and it goes away quickly once the fight starts. It doesn’t matter one bit if Mayweather is afraid of Pacquiao, because once the punches start flying, I see Pacquiao reduced to a pile of bloody flesh on the canvas. Mayweather, whether he’s afraid of Pacquiao or not, will still be just as hard to hit and just as quick with his hands.
