If true it could be a “terrible” mistake to match an inexperienced Pablo Cesar Cano who is only 21 years old, against a savvy old lion like Erik Morales is.

By Jason Kim: Things are looking awfully bleak for the September 17th Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Victor Ortiz pay per view card with the loss of the Erik Morales vs. Lucas Matthysse fight on Thursday with the news that Matthysse was pulling out due to a severe viral infection. The fight is going for $50+ on PPV, and that’s a lot of money for what appears to be only one good fight between Mayweather and Ortiz. Unless a suitable big-named opponent is found to step in and fight Morales, I can see this hurting the PPV sales numbers.

As of now, there isn’t a definitive explanation for Matthysse pulling out.
