Cintron vs. Williams this Saturday

Image: Cintron vs. Williams this SaturdayBy Jim Dower: This Saturday night three time champion Paul Williams (38-1, 27 KO’s) will be facing former welterweight champion Kermit Cintron (32-2-1, 28 KO’s) in light middleweight action at the Home Depot Center, in Carson, California. This fight, which will be shown on HBO, is important for both fighters as each of them need to win in order to stay alive for a title shot against one of the light middleweight champions. The fight in itself is like a championship match, however, because both Williams and Cintron are probably better than three out of the four current champions in the light middleweight division.

Prediction: Mayweather won’t be fighting Cintron

Image: Prediction: Mayweather won't be fighting CintronBy Dave Lahr: I’d like nothing more for Floyd Mayweather Jr. to fight knockout artist Kermit Cintron (32-2-1, 28 KO’s) on March 13th, but I can’t see it happening. This would go against everything that I’ve seen from Mayweather in recent years. It’s not that Mayweather hasn’t faced huge punchers before during his career, because Mayweather dominated big punching Diego Corrales nine years ago in a 10th round stoppage in 2001.

Vargas to return in 2010? Cintron to fight Ramos on October 24th – news

By Eric Thomas: Former two time light middleweight champion Fernando Vargas (26-5, 22 KO’s) could be making a comeback in 2010, possibly against Hector Camacho Jr. (49-3-1, 27 KO’s). The only problem with that bout is what weight would the fight be fought at, because Camacho Jr. is a light middleweight and Vargas, now 32, would probably be lucky if he could make super middleweight.

angulo462446By Jason Kim: Light middleweight Alfredo Angulo (16-1, 13 KO’s) looked sensational last night in obliterating the tough Gabriel Rosado (12-4, 7 KO’s) in a 2nd round TKO at the Buffalo Bill’s Star Arena, in Primm, Nevada. Angulo, who was defeated by Kermit Cintron by a 12-round unanimous decision loss on May 30th, was much too powerful for Rosado to deal with, knocking him to the canvas three separate times before the bout was ultimately stopped by referee Russell Mora in the 2nd round.
