Hearn offers Khan $8 million to fight Kell Brook

hearn44By Scott Gilfoid: Now that Amir Khan has been eliminated from contention for a nice payday fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. on May 3rd, Matchroom Sport promoter Eddie Hearn, the promoter for unbeaten welterweight contender Kell Brook (31-0, 21 KO’s), has given Khan an offer of $8 million [5 million pounds] to face Brook. The money that Hearn is offering Khan is only $2 million less than the likely $10 million that he would have received for the Mayweather fight.

“When we heard Khan’s Mayweather fight was on the brink of falling through, I made a serious offer for him to fight Kell,” Hearn said RingTV. “That offer, £5million, is still on the table and will remain there for the foreseeable future.”

Kell Brook tells Khan that he can get rich fighting him

By Scott Gilfoid: Former IBF/WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (28-3, 19 KO’s) might not get the fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. on May 3rd, but he can get a nice payday fight against #1 IBF Kell Brook (31-0, 21 KO’s), or at least that’s what Brook is saying. Brook’s promoter Eddie Hearn reportedly said that a Brook fight could mean a $5 million payday for Khan if he were to accept it. That’s probably four times the amount that Khan will be making if he faces one of Golden Boy Promotions fighters in April or May.

Special K needs a big name

brook764By jochef: I will start this article by saying I am a big fan of Kell Brook. He has all the tools to become a real force in the welterweight division, and his accurate punches and slick movement have at times left his opponents bewildered and completely out of ideas. However, his opponents have been largely limited in their ability and at this stage in his career. Should he have more names on his record?

I feel like his promoter Eddie Hearn has kept him quite safe and has now got himself to the stage where he is mandatory to the IBF title. He may lack the experience needed to go to an opponents back yard and bring home a title.

Brook wants Keith Thurman vs. Shawn Porter winner in June

thurman11By Scott Gilfoid: #1 WBA, Kell Brook (23-0-1, 14 KO’s) says he’ll be fighting the winner of the proposed Keith Thurman vs. Shawn Porter fight by next June at the latest. The Thurman-Porter fight is being talked about by Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer for next April, and the chances are very high that Thurman will emerge as the winner of that fight unless he can somehow mug Thurman in the same way he did to Devon Alexander last December.

“Shawn Porter vs. Keith Thurman. The winner I get before June.”

Brook: Khan has no chance of beating Mayweather

khan53By Scott Gilfoid: Welterweight contender Kell Brook is giving fellow countryman Amir Khan (28-3, 19 KO’s) no chance at all in beating Floyd Mayweather Jr. (45-0, 26 KO’s) if he’s the one that’s selected as Mayweather’s next opponent.

Besides seeing the 27-year-old Khan as being unworthy to fight Mayweather due to his 2-2 record in his last 4 fights and his unavenged 1st round knockout loss to Colombian slugger Breidis Prescott, Brook doesn’t think Khan has the talent to hang with Mayweather and he just sees this as a sick mismatch on May 3rd.

Kell Brook fight set for March

brook6666By Dan Henderson: Kell Brook is set to fight again in March against a yet to be named opponent. I should imagine that it would be a relatively easy fight to keep him ticking over for his IBF shot in June/July against Shawn Porter if the latter wins his voluntary defence, I’m not sure who he would face but I’m sure promoter Eddie Hearn will not match him too tough due to his impending title shot.

Kell was speaking to Sky Sports and this is what he had to say, ” There’s still talks going on, but I’ll be fighting maybe the middle or the end of March,”.

Brook and Thurman: The Future of the Welterweight Division.

thurman3By Olly Campbell: With a lack of any domestic action throughout January here in the UK, I have grown quite reflective over what has been and what is to come as far as the best of British are concerned. Tyson Fury, Carl Froch and Ricky Burns have all been subjected to my scrutiny as of late.

Today, however, I am turning my attentions to not just a British fighter, but an American one too. Two young, hungry and talented men who I believe are not only the future of the welterweight division, but who are also on something of a collision course for the future provided both their careers follow the paths their respective talents have them earmarked for. Those two men are Britain’s Kell Brook (31-0 21KOs) and Keith Thurman from the United States (22-0, 20KOs).

Kell Brook thwarts Procrastinations attempt to Steal his Time now he Must Shine

brook7777 - CopyBy Robbie Bannatyne: The English poet, Edward Young, is said to have been the first man to use the now famous proverb ‘Procrastination is the Thief of Time’. Ironically enough, the first time I was exposed to this message was when I was about 8 years old, it was painted in big, black, bold letters on a wall across a bridge in my native Johnstone, in the West Coast of Scotland – which is not exactly a breeding ground for thought provoking street art rich in wisdom.

For some reason I was instantly struck by the peculiarly out of place eloquence of the graffiti and I instinctively knew it would be the first and last time I would see such a sight in my hometown. Intrigued, I immediately went home and asked my mother what the message meant.

Hearn thinks he can get Broner to UK for Kell Brook fight

broner782By Scott Gilfoid: Matchroom Sport promoter Eddie Hearn thinks he can lure WBA welterweight champion Adrien Broner over to the UK to fight his guy Kell Brook (31-0, 21 KO’s) within the next few months.

Hearn believes that with the lure of money to be made on pay-per-view, Broner will readily agree to come over and fight in front of massive crowds of British fans cheering Brook on. Hearn also thinks he has a chance to get Floyd Mayweather Jr. and/or Amir Khan to agree to fight Brook.

Why Kell Brook vs. Amir Khan Has To Happen

brook5By Bobby Virr: A British super fight between Kell Brook and Amir Khan next summer could really wrap up a great 6 months of British super fights. First up on 23rd November 2013, we have Nottingham’s Carl Froch defending his World IBF/WBA super-middleweight titles against Londoner George Groves. The next British blockbuster is the rearranged heavyweight fight between Tyson Fury and David Haye on 8th February 2014.

Both these fights are on Sky Box Office. If these two fights can be on PPV television I’m sure Brook vs. Khan would be. By May/July time this could be the 3rd all British PPV clash in 6 months. After Brook’s 4 round demolition job of Ukraine’s Vyacheslav Senchenko, he has put himself in just about everybody’s top 10 Welters in World boxing. We all know he would love the Khan fight because he calls Amir out at every opportunity. However, for a fight to happen it has to work for both parties.
