Brahmer sick, unification bout against Shumenov is off
By Eric Thomas: The unification bout scheduled for this Saturday night between WBO light heavyweight champion Jurgen Brahmer (36-2, 29 KO’s) and World Boxing Association (WBA) light heavyweight champ Beibut Shumenov (10-6 KO’s), has been called off after the 32-year-old Brahmer pulled out of the fight due to a bad gastrointestinal illness he suddenly developed. According to news from fightnews, Brahmer developed a bad case of diarrhea, nausea, vomiting as well as a bad headache.
It looks as if Brahmer was losing fluid from both ends of his body. Given that the fight was supposed to be taking place on Saturday, Brahmer’s camp decided to cancel the fight rather than take the risk of putting their man out there in less than 100% condition for the fight.

Braehmer, 30, knocked Brancalion down three times before referee Terry O’Connor stepped in and halted the bout at 1:23 after the 3rd knockdown in the round.
