Pacquiao-Clottey a horrible fight and dreadful undercard

Image: Pacquiao-Clottey a horrible fight and dreadful undercardBy Chris Williams: I hate to say I told you so, but I did. I knew the Manny Pacquiao vs. Joshua Clottey fight was going to be a total mismatch. And for the many Pacquiao fans, including trainer Freddie Roach, who said that Clottey was the type of opponent that would bring an exciting fight, you were dead wrong. How could Roach be so ignorant of Clottey? I’ve see Clottey fight at least 10 times and I knew all he was capable of doing was just covering up. If Roach didn’t know that too, shame on him.

Pacquiao-Clottey predictions: Clottey, Soto, Medina and Gomez will win

Image: Pacquiao-Clottey predictions: Clottey, Soto, Medina and Gomez will winBy Esteban Garduno: Tonight’s fight at the Dallas Cowboy Stadium is mostly filled with mismatches of the worst kind. On paper, the bout between Joshua Clottey and Manny Pacquiao figures to be an easy win for Pacquiao over a limited Clottey, but I see Clottey pulling off a huge upset over Pacquiao tonight to spoil Manny’s party. Clottey will stay in Pacquiao’s face, make him work harder than he has in ages, take his shots and punish the Filipino. Pacquiao has become accustomed to beating up on over-matched opponents and Clottey isn’t going to go down like the other guys that have been fed to Pacquiao in the past two years.

Pacquiao-Clottey – “The Event” Preview and Predictions

Image: Pacquiao-Clottey - “The Event” Preview and PredictionsBy Christopher Lowe:

“Irish” John Duddy 28-1, 18 KO vs. Michael Medina 23-1-2,18 KO

10 Rounds Middleweight Division (160 lbs)

When looking into the combatants previous contest I noticed this is going to be a step up in weight for Medina. Medina’s last 9 fights where held in the Junior Middleweight Division at 154 pounds. Being the younger fighter at 23 years of age its possible he has out grown 154 pounds and is ready to move up in weight. However when ever a fighter moves up in class it always raises questions if they can carry their power up in weight with them.

Valero designated “champion in recess” – Soto to fight for vacant WBC title – News

Image: Valero designated “champion in recess” - Soto to fight for vacant WBC title - NewsBy Jim Dower: World Boxing Council lightweight champion Edwin Valero (27-0, 27 KO’s) has been given the designation of the “champion in recess” by the WBC, says President Jose Sulaiman. The reason for this designation is twofold: First of all, Valero, 28, suffered a bad cut on his forehead in the 2nd round after catching a hard elbow from Antonio DeMarco. The cut, a deep one, will take a considerable amount of time to heal, and will prevent Valero from getting back in the ring anytime soon to defend the WBC lightweight title.

Pavlik-Espino: If Kelly loses he’s pretty much finished

pav4324By Eric Thomas: World Boxing Council/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik has a fight coming up against little known Miguel Angel Espino this Saturday night in Youngstown, Ohio. This is a fight that hardly any one wants to see, other than die hard Pavlik and Espino fans. Pavlik is only two fights removed from his one-sided loss to 43-year-old Bernard Hopkins. That loss was a huge blow for Pavlik’s career, because many people expected that Pavlik would have little problem with Hopkins and would knock him out.
