This will be Groves first fight in the US and a great stage for him to show off his undoubted talent. He had this to say about the Super-middleweight division “The US have some very promising Super-middleweights starting to break through, it’s my job to show they won’t be having it all their own way in years to come on the biggest stage. Groves overcomes Adamu with a stoppage

By Alan Ross: George Groves took the British Commonwealth Super-Middleweight title tonight with a stoppage win over Ghana’s Charles Adamu. Fighting on the undercard of Haye-Ruiz at the MEN Arena in Manchester, UK, and in only his ninth pro fight, Groves proved to be well ahead of his nominally more experienced opponent. After the fight was stopped in the sixth he took the opportunity to call out the British Champion Paul Smith.

The 21-year-old Groves cornered Jonkus a couple of times in the 4th round, battering him each time with unanswered punches.

groves322451By Nate Anderson: Unbeaten super middleweight prospect George Groves (3-0, 2 KOs) stopped former British challenger Paul Samuels (19-6-2, 11 KOs) in the 1st round on Saturday night at the Echo Arena, in Liverpool. Groves, 21, dropped Samuels with a big right hand in the 1st, and moments later knocked him off balance with a couple of punches that missed but still were able to get Samuels to stumble backwards into the ropes.
