Magnificent Mayweather proves he can do it all

Image: Magnificent Mayweather proves he can do it allBy Kyle Simpson: After watching and re-watching Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s dominant performance over Shane Mosley I know find myself thinking that Mayweather has everything an all time great boxer requires.

There have been many criticisms in the past of Mayweather’s so called boring style leading to dull and drab fights which is some cases he does just enough to win, like in the De La Hoya fight for example but after the way he performed against Mosley on Saturday night he has truly silenced those views.

Mayweather regains Pound for Pound Crown

Image: Mayweather regains Pound for Pound CrownBy Klaas Mabetlela: Floyd Mayweather Jr. has confounded his critics and surprised even his fiercest supporters while putting to bed many questions that have been asked about his armory. If one boxer can bring Paris Hilton to the boxing match, it is Floyd Mayweather Jr.

First things first, I think he has regained his pound for pound status as the king of the hill. Mayweather arguably lost only one round when outclassing fellow pound for pound compatriots in Juan Manuel Marquez and Sugar Shane Mosley.

Floyd was obviously looking for something extra special, and despite not getting a knockout he did deliver a special performance.

Mosley-Mayweather: Who R U Picking?

Image: Mosley-Mayweather: Who R U Picking?By Peter Wells: Tonight we will witness a fight that could change this era, of whom is the best and who will be next in the ring with Manny Pacquiao. Mayweather has been noted by so many as a boring fighter, but still he increases the margin of pay-per-view buys. How? Mayweather is a ticket seller, and his outstanding skills are spell binding. A fighter who only rises to the level he needs to, he doesn’t waste energy when it’s unnecessary. Tonight though it will be necessary for him to push himself to his full potential, as Mosley will no doubt push him to his absolute limit.

Will Mayweather still consider himself better than Robinson and Ali if he loses to Mosley?

Image: Will Mayweather still consider himself better than Robinson and Ali if he loses to Mosley?By William Mackay: It’s going to be really interesting to see if Floyd Mayweather Jr. (40-0, 25 KO’s) still considers himself better than Sugar Ray Robinson and Muhammad Ali if he loses tonight against Shane Mosley (46-5, 39 KO’s). You would assume that once Mayweather has been beaten his ego would equalize out to reality and he would start seeing that maybe he isn’t the best fighter in the world, but you can’t be too sure.

In an article at Sportinglife, Haye says “Floyd Mayweather and Shane Mosley are my two favorite modern day warriors, who I’ve studied in depth over the years. Both fighters are guaranteed to go down in history as greats as they’ve fought and beaten great world champions in many different weight divisions. This fight will be very tense and competitive contest from the start, similar to the De La Hoya-Mayweather fight, but the difference, I feel, will be that Mosley will push hard down the final straight.”

Image: Mosley: “He’s [Mayweather] not going to beat me”By Chris Williams: WBA welterweight champion Shane Mosley (46-5, 39 KO’s) doesn’t plan on losing tonight against undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. (40-0, 25 KO’s). In an article at the BBC, Mosley says “He’s [Mayweather] not going to beat me. When the fight starts, I’m going to go out there. I’m going to throw some traps here and there, touch him here and there. See what’s going on. I’ll probably be able to tell from the first bell what kind of fight it’s going to be.” I can see what kind of fight it will be as well. As soon as Mayweather starts landing clean counter punches, it’s going to awaken the brawling instinct in Mosley and he’s going to be looking to get in and pay Mayweather back with hard shots.

Roach thinks Mayweather isn’t the same fighter he once was

Image: Roach thinks Mayweather isn’t the same fighter he once wasBy Jason Kim: Popular trainer Freddie Roach thinks that undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. (40-0, 25 KO’s) has lost something as he’s moved up in weight from the super featherweight division where he started out. Roach believes that Mayweather was perhaps a great fighter as a super featherweight but isn’t the same fighter he once was now that he’s moved up to welterweight. In an article by Yahoo Sports writer Kevin Iole, Roach says “He [Mayweather] was a very good fighter, maybe even a great fighter, when he was at 130, 135 and maybe even 140. But he’s not the same fighter to me since he’s been at 147 and [154].
