Does Mayweather have Plan B and C Excuses Ready to Avoid Pacquiao?

By Giancarlo Malinconico: Floyd Mayweather first agreed, during the negotiations for a March 2010 bout, that Manny Pacquiao must undergo random blood testing up to 14 days before the fight. Now that Pacquiao has agreed to that — surprise — 14 days is not good enough, and now he is demanding that the tests be conducted up to fight night. It is ridiculous to ask for blood testing within days of a fight because blood tests do take a physical toll on fighters. If you want simple evidence of that: just watch the 24/7 series featuring Mayweather and Shane Mosley in which the United States Anti Doping Agency had to wait hours for Mayweather to settle down because it arrived while he was in the middle of training — so much for the notion that drawing less than a teaspoon full of blood doesn’t hurt anybody.

Pacquiao Must Demand Random Testing for Xylocaine against Mayweather

Image: Pacquiao Must Demand Random Testing for Xylocaine against MayweatherBy Giancarlo Malinconico: Leonard Ellerbe has stated that Floyd “Money” Mayweather does not use Xylocaine, a drug that works to numb pain. So what? Freddie Roach and others have stated that Manny Pacquiao does not take Performance Enhancing Drugs (PEDs). Moreover, Pacquiao has never tested positive for PEDs. But Floyd is insisting that Manny be randomly blood tested up until the day of the fight.

Arum has set aside November 6th and 13th for Mayweather-Pacquiao clash

Image: Arum has set aside November 6th and 13th for Mayweather-Pacquiao clashBy Dave Lahr: Top Rank promoter Bob Arum has set aside November 6th and November 13th for a mega fight between WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. for a fight that will be held in either Las Vegas or at the Cowboy Stadium, in Texas.

Arum is hoping to be able to put together the mega fight in the next few months, if possible. However, he might be jumping way ahead of himself in setting dates without Mayweather’s involvement. Pacquiao recently agreed to allow for blood tests to be taken from him until 14 days before a fight against Mayweather.

Arum thinks it will be Mayweather’s fault if the Pacquiao doesn’t get made

By Jason Kim: In the latest boxing news, Top Rank promoter Bob Arum recently said that it would be Floyd Mayweather’s fault if the mega fight between Floyd and Manny Pacquiao doesn’t get made, because Pacquiao recently agreed to the Olympic style blood tests up until 14 days before a potential fight with Mayweather. This is in effect is what Mayweather wanted previously in order for him to fight Pacquiao.

Arum thinks 14 days of no blood testing is reasonable for Mayweather-Pacquiao bout

Image: Arum thinks 14 days of no blood testing is reasonable for Mayweather-Pacquiao boutBy Dave Lahr: Top Rank promoter Bob Arum thinks that 14 days of no random blood testing is reasonable, according to Yahoo Sports. Arum says “Fourteen days should give them [the United States Anti-Doping Agency] plenty of time to do what they need to do, especially in light of what they did with Mayweather and Mosley.” I don’t agree with Arum. I think the blood testing should go all the way up until the day of the fight in the textbook version of random blood testing. How can you have a 14 day window of no drug testing? What is that?

Mayweather: “My new terms [for blood testing] are all the way up to the fight” for Pacquiao bout

Image: Mayweather: “My new terms [for blood testing] are all the way up to the fight” for Pacquiao boutBy Dave Lahr: If WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao (51-3-2, 38 KO’s) wants a fight with unbeaten Floyd Mayweather Jr. (41-0, 25 KO’s), then he better be prepared to undergo Olympic style blood testing all the way up until the fight, and not just until 14 days before the fight. In an article by Michael Marley at Examiner.com Mayweather says “I have him [Pacquiao] a chance, up to 14 days out [during their last failed negotiations in February]. But my new terms are all the way up to the fight. They can come get use whenever, all the way up to the fight, random drug test. That’s what it is.”

Ricky Hatton says he’d come back for Mayweather fight – feels that Floyd didn’t show him respect

Image: Ricky Hatton says he’d come back for Mayweather fight – feels that Floyd didn’t show him respectBy William Mackay: It’s been a year since Ricky Hatton (45-2, 32 KO’s) was blasted apart by Manny Pacquiao in a humiliating 2nd round knockout at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Instead of getting back on the horse, getting some tune-up fights and beating some quality fighters, Hatton has stayed away from the boxing ring and ballooned up in weight. Opponents like Juan Manuel Marquez, Amir Khan and Michael Katsidis has been dangled in front of Hatton’s eyes for big money fights, yet he’s shown no interest in stepping back in the ring to put his loss behind him, that is, until now.

Richardson thinks Khan is a bigger puncher than Mayweather – News

Image: Richardson thinks Khan is a bigger puncher than Mayweather – NewsBy Jim Dower: Naazim Richardson, the trainer for Shane Mosley, thinks that World Boxing Association light welterweight champion Amir Khan is a bigger puncher than Floyd Mayweather Jr. That’s kind of amusing because Khan doesn’t look like that big of a puncher and recently needed 11 rounds to take out Paulie Malignaggi last weekend at Madison Square Garden. In an article at Diamondboxing.com, Richardson said “Shane wasn’t in there with the kind of puncher that [Paulie] Malignaggi was just in there with. In a fight like that one there between Khan and Malignaggi, yeah, I would have probably stopped it.”

Mayweather-Mosley blood testing cutoff was 18 days before the fight?

Image: Mayweather-Mosley blood testing cutoff was 18 days before the fight?By Dave Lahr: According to news from Philboxing.com, the random blood tests used by the U.S Anti Doping Agency for the May 1st Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Shane Mosley bout were last done 18 to 19 days before their fight. Frankly, I don’t believe that at all. Until I hear from another source, I’m going to remain skeptical about that report. Even if this is true, what difference does it make? Mayweather still wants the random blood testing to take place for any fight with Pacquiao and this report won’t make the tests magically go away.

Mayweather should demand blood testing up to the day of the fight

Image: Mayweather should demand blood testing up to the day of the fightBy Dave Lahr: Okay, Manny Pacquiao has finally agreed to take the Olympic style random blood tests up to 14 days before the fight, but that’s the old negotiations with Floyd Mayweather Jr. Things have changed a lot in the last few months and Mayweather has pretty much established that he’s the cash cow of boxing, the number #1 moneymaker in pay-per-view buys. He should now demand that Pacquiao agree to the blood testing up until the day of the fight. And he should demand a 60% cut of the revenue. Mayweather just finished doubling Pacquiao’s PPV numbers with his fight against Shane Mosley with the 1.4 million PPV buys compared to Pacquiao’s measly 700,000 for his fight with Joshua Clottey.
