Golovkin is the No.1 P4P fighter, says Holyfield

Boxing: Golovkin vs LemieuxBy Dan Ambrose: Former heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield says he personally rates IBF/IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (34-0, 31 KOs) as the No.1 pound-for-pound fighter in boxing rather than WBC flyweight champion Roman Gonzalez, who Ring Magazine has as their No.1 P4P pounder.

“In boxing should not be afraid of no one, to be the best should fight the best,” said Holyfield via ESPN Deportes. “So I think GGG is the best pound for pound fighter in the world right now. He is the only middleweight that does not avoid anyone, whether you ask tells you ok, let’s do it,” Holyfield.

Joshua should target Klitschko, says Holyfield

klitschko123By Scott Gilfoid: Former heavyweight world champion Evander Holyfield thinks that undefeated Commonwealth heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (14-0, 14 KOs) should go after IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (64-3, 53 KOs) for his titles in the near future.

Holyfield thinks it’s a risk that the 25-year-old Joshua has to take with his career. However, Joshua and his promoter Eddie Hearn plan on waiting for at least two more fights before they go after either Klitschko or WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder.

Holyfield thinks Mayweather won’t beat Pacquiao

floyd58544By Chris Williams: Former heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield believes that Floyd Mayweather Jr won’t be allowed to beat Manny Pacquiao in their mega-fight on May 2nd, because boxing doesn’t want anyone to finish their careers with an unbeaten record.

Holyfield feels that Mayweather will lose the fight because boxing wants there to be a rematch due to the money involved. In other words, if Mayweather were to beat Pacquiao, the chances are that Mayweather would move on without facing Pacquiao a second time. But if he faces Pacquiao and loses on May 2nd, then it’ll increase the chances of a rematch taking place between them.

The Mayweather-Pacquiao winner will be decided by politics, says Holyfield

pac01236666By Chris Williams: While many boxing fans see the proposed May 2nd fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao being determined by who the better man is between the two, former heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield has a different point of view about the fight.

Holyfield sees it coming down to whichever the boxing powers want the winner to be. If they want Mayweather to be the winner, then he’ll get the nod, or if they want it to be Pacquiao, then he’ll be given the decision. Holyfield sees it coming down to straight politics unfortunately, and that’s kind of disappointing.

Holyfield to fight on? Thanks for the greatest memories Evander but please retire

Image: Holyfield to fight on? Thanks for the greatest memories Evander but please retireBy Rob Blakeman: A lavish party was thrown last night in Beverly Hills, California for legendary boxing champion Evander Holyfield who incredibly has just turned 50 years old. Holyfield has been my number one sporting hero for as long as I can remember. The noble warrior who in my humble opinion can just is easily be called ‘The Greatest’ alongside Ali for reasons I’ll explain.

As an athlete growing up and competing myself, he was the only sportsman of my era who I ever saw and believed was truly better than me. As a somewhat arrogant young man I viewed all other sportsmen, in whatever particular field they were in, as equals. I truly felt that if I had worked hard developing those particular skills, soccer, tennis, whatever, I could probably be competitive with most of them.

Contrary to rumors that have been floating around, Ortiz didn’t have a second surgery to repair his jaw. It’s been one but his jaw has definitely been slow in healing due to the multiple fractures that he suffered.

According to RingTV, the 25-year-old Ortiz will be appearing in a movie called AWOL 72. The filming hasn’t started but it’s expected to soon. It’s a military based movie and Ortiz is being given a major character despite having no previous acting experience in movies.
