I still don’t think Bute is the #1 fighter in the super middleweight division
By Scott Gilfoid: I don’t care if IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute (26-0, 21 KO’s) stopped Edison Miranda (33-5, 29 KO’s) in the 3rd round last night. I still think that other super middleweights like Andre Dirrell, Andre Ward and maybe Allan Green are better fighters than Bute. Last Saturday night, Bute had the perfect opponent in front of him with the wide open, weak-chinned Miranda. That guy gave the fight away by coming at Bute with his head bent down like he was begging to be hit with an uppercut.
Miranda needs to move back down to middleweight
By Dan Ambrose: It was sad to see former middleweight contender Edison Miranda (33-5, 29 KO’s) being taken out in the 3rd round by International Boxing Federation super middleweight champion Lucian Bute (26-0, 21 KO’s) at the Bell Centre, in Montreal, Canada. Miranda, 5’10”, looked small compared to the 6’2” Bute, and although both of them were pretty much the same weight last Saturday night, Miranda appeared to be a weight class below Bute in size. Since Miranda has now been beaten in two out of his last three fights at super middleweight, I think that’s a good sign that he’s not really cut out for this weight class.
Is Bute tailor made for Edison Miranda?
By Jim Dower: Tomorrow night’s fight between International Boxing Federation super middleweight champion Lucian Bute (25-0, 20 KO’s) and Edison Miranda (33-4, 29 KO’s) matches two completely different fighters against each other. Bute, 30, is good boxer with great technical skills, fast hands and the ability to get out of the way of shots after he unloads on his opponents. Miranda, 29, is slower, much more powerful and methodical in comparison. Miranda patiently stalks his opponents around the ring looking for one big shot to level them.
Bute-Miranda: Lucian can’t afford to relax in this fight
By Jason Kim: This Saturday night, International Boxing Federation (IBF) super middleweight champion Lucian Bute (26-0, 20 KO’s) faces what is likely the biggest puncher of his career in Edison Miranda (33-4, 29 KO’s) at the Bell Centre, in Montreal, Canada. Bute, 30, has never been in with a slugger like Miranda before and it will be a real test to see if Bute can get out of this fight without taking punishment and possibly getting knocked down. Up to this point, the biggest puncher that Bute has faced in his seven year pro career was against Alejandro Berrio in 2007.
Bute vs. Miranda: Edison has a puncher’s chance but that’s about it
By Jason Kim: Knockout artist Edison Miranda (33-4, 29 KO’s) has the deck stacked against him this Saturday night when he who many boxing fans feel is the best fighter in the super middleweight division in IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute (25-0, 20 KO’s). Bute has pretty much every advantage you could imagine going into this fight – fighting in front of a friendly Montreal crowd at the Bell Centre, having the better hand speed and the super boxing ability. The only areas where you can really question the 30-year-old Bute is his power, stamina and chin. Bute is by far the superior fighter compared to Miranda in the other areas.
Miranda vs. Bute: Can Lucian stay away from Edison’s big power?
By Eric Thomas: On April 17th, knockout artist Edison Miranda (33-4, 29 KO’s) will be traveling to Canada to face International Boxing Federation super middleweight champion Lucian Bute (25-0, 20 KO’s) at the Bell Centre, in Montreal, Canada. For Miranda, he can’t afford to lose this fight if he wants to keep in the thick of things in the super middleweight division. Miranda was beaten in a one-sided 12 round decision loss last year against Andre Ward. Miranda looked really bad in that fight, far too slow for the much quicker Ward.
Bute vs. Miranda on April 17th
By Jim Dower: International Boxing Federation super middleweight champion Lucian Bute (25-0, 20 KO’s) will be making his 5th defense of his IBF title on April 17th against super middleweight contender Edison Miranda (33-4, 29 KO’s) at the Bell Centre, Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Bute, 29, has mostly dominated since capturing the IBF title in October 2007 with an 11th round stoppage win over Alejandro Berrio.
Miranda cancels fight with Stieglitz; Jacobs picked for prospect of the year – News
By Jason Kim: Super middleweight contender Edison Miranda (33-4, 29 KO’s) had to pull out of his January 9th bout against World Boxing Organization super middleweight champion Robert Stieglitz yesterday because the 28-year-old Miranda has been sick with a bad case of the flu. Miranda will need at least 4 to 6 weeks to fully recover from the illness, but still wants to attempt to make the fight with Stieglitz, if possible, at that time. If not, then Miranda will be looking to see if he can land a fight with IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute.
