By Eric Thomas: IBF/WBC light welterweight champion Devon Alexander (21-0, 13 KO’s) will take his wins anyway he can them. Earlier tonight, Alexander won what many boxing fans see as a gift decision by the judges against former WBA light welterweight champion Andriy Kotelnik (31-4-1, 13 KO’s) at the Scottrade Center, in Saint Louis, Missouri. The final judges scores were 116-112, 116-112 and 116-112. After the fight, Alexander, 23, said that he wants to fight WBO light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley next. That fight, if it can be successfully negotiated between two different promotional teams, will likely take place in January.

Devon Alexander received a 116-112 (8 rounds to 4 rounds) unanimous decision on all 3 score cards over Andriy Kotelnik.
Alexander-Kotelnik: Can Devon continue his devastating run?
By Peter Wells: It was March this year that St Louis Devon Alexander proved a statement in the Light Welterweight division, he fought at close range with a pressure puncher like Juan Urango and came out victorious with an 8th round stoppage. It was a risky tactic, but it paid off and caught the eyes of so many boxing fans.

Arum wants Marquez to beat Clottey, Berto, Alexander or Bradley before he’ll match Marquez against Pacquiao
By Dan Ambose: If Juan Manuel Marquez wants a third fight with Manny Pacquiao, he’s going to have to fight and beat some of the top light welterweights and some welterweights as well. Alexander should easily beat Kotelnik on Saturday
By Dan Ambrose: IBF/WBC light welterweight champion Devon Alexander (20-0, 13 KO’s) defends his titles this Saturday night against former WBA junior middleweight champion Andriy Kotelnik (31-3-1, 13 KO’s) at the Scottrade Center, in Saint Louis, Missouri. This isn’t the fight that boxing fans wanted to see. They wanted to see Alexander face either WBA junior middleweight champion Amir Khan or WBO junior middleweight title holder Timothy Bradley. But since neither Khan nor Bradley was in position to fight Alexander, he has to settle for fighting Kotelnik. This should be a mildly entertaining fight while it lasts, but not really a competitive fight.

By Jim Dower: IBF/WBC light welterweight champion Devon Alexander is in a position where he not only has to win on Saturday night against former WBA light welterweight champion Andriy Kotelnik in their title fight at the Scottrade Center, in Saint Louis, Missouri, but Alexander must look impressive in winning the fight.

Amir Khan: “(Devon) Alexander should fight Tim Bradley and I’ll fight Maidana”
By Peter Wells: In last months Boxing Monthly magazine there was an interview with Amir Khan. He was asked to analysis the top contenders along with Freddie Roach and Ricky Hatton who gave a shorter but better summary of the fighters. First he was asked about Marquez and said that “Marquez would be a perfect fight for me soon- maybe next.” He also once again brought up that he reckons he doesn’t get enough credit in the UK. Freddie and Ricky both back a victory for Khan.
Devon Alexander vs. Kotelnik on August 7th
By Jim Dower: IBF/WBC light welterweight champion Devon Alexander (20-0, 13 KO’s) will be defending his titles against former World Boxing Association light welterweight champion Andriy Kotelnik (31-3-1, 13 KO’s) on August 7th at the Scottrade Center, in Saint Louis, Missouri. Alexander, 23, had hopes of getting a high profile opponent like WBO light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley, WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan or WBA light welterweight interim champion Marcos Maidana as his next opponent. However, none of them have seemed too eager to get in the ring with the young and talented Alexander.
