Deontay Wilder doubts the Klitschko brothers will want to fight him now

deontay4444By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten heavyweight contender Deontay Wilder (29-0, 29 KO’s) put the heavyweight division on notice that he’s a force to be reckoned with after his impressive 1st round knockout win over Sergei Liakhovoch last Saturday night in Indio, California.

That was Deontay’s 29th straight knockout, and his goal is to knockout his first 30 opponents. After that, all Deontay wants is to capture a world title.

Getting an opportunity to fight for a world title may prove to be difficult for Deontay, because the Klitschko brothers aren’t likely to hand-pick Deontay for a fight when there are so many marks for them to fight.

Odlanier Solis’ promoter interested in Deontay Wilder fight

deontay55By Ivan Ivanov: Getting the fans interested in the heavyweight division requires imagination and even writing about it isn’t exactly a rewarding task. There are no natural self-evident rivalries and publicity stunts may be necessary to set up a fight. According to Fightnews, Ahmet Öner, the promoter of heavyweight contender Odlanier Solis, has issued a challenge to Deontay Wilder. He made a bold statement that he doesn’t see Wilder as the next big thing and Solis could prove that.

The manager is confident “Showtime” will accept the fight. He has billed this rivalry as “US Power vs. Latino Power”. This could be an overstatement but the fight makes sense anyway.

Dereck Chisora was very lucky the Deontay Wilder fight didn’t happen

wilder44By Scott Gilfoid: British heavyweight Derek Chisora (17-4, 11 KO’s) should be feeling very fortunate today that his proposed June 15th fight against the talented American heavyweight knockout artist Deontay Wilder (29-0, 29 KO’s) didn’t take place as briefly scheduled because I think it’s pretty clear that Chisora would have plodded into a monstrous right hand that would have sent him down and out.

Never the less, I think it would have been a terrible experience for Chisora, because it would have meant two knockout losses for him in his last three fights. Chisora was stopped in the 5th round by David Haye last year in July.

The Heavyweight division is beginning to heat up

001WildervsLiakhovichIMG_3333(Photo credit: Tom Casino/Showtime) By Dallas Orysiuk: At one point, being the heavyweight champion of the world was the greatest achievements in sports. The heavyweight division in boxing has been a residence for greats like Muhammad Ali, George Foreman, Joe Frazier, Rocky Marciano, Jack Dempsey, Evander Holyfield, and Mike Tyson. But now the lower weight classes receive greater glorification and attention, and the majority of American heavyweights chose football or basketball instead. And in recent years, the heavyweight division has been one of the most boring divisions in boxing, and if you were suffering from insomnia, watching a heavyweight clash could be the cure.

Deontay Wilder gloating about victory over Liakhovich

deontay11By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten heavyweight Deontay Wilder (29-0, 29 KO’s) is enjoying himself today after destroying Sergei Liakhovich (25-6, 16 KO’s) in a 1st round KO last night at the Fantasy Springs Casino, in Indio, California, USA. Deontay smashed Liakhovich to smithereens with two sledgehammer right hands to the head that ended the fight in leading Liakhovich on his back on the canvas.

With the victory now behind him, Deontay is enjoying how his many critics are suffering today due to his success. It’s sad that a talented fighter like Deontay would have so many critics, but it’s actually quite normal when you have someone as talented as him. Many fans tend to pick out their favorite fighters from the same country they’re from, and they simply can’t enjoy a talented fighter like Deontay.

Deontay Wilder: Arreola and Mitchell are perfect for my style

003WildervictoryIMG_3358(Photo credit: Tom Casino/Showtime) By Scott Gilfoid: Deontay Wilder (29-0, 29 KO’s) is really looking forward to getting the winner of the Chris Arreola vs. Seth Mitchell fight in the ring so that he blast them apart in one or two rounds like Deontay did in destroying Sergei Liakhovich in one round last night in Indio, California.

Deontay sees Arreola and Mitchell as being tailor-made for his fighting style. In other words, these guys come straight forward looking to punch, and they would make it easy for the 6’7” Deontay to line them up for a right hand power shot.

Deontay Wilder: I can bring the heavyweight title back to America

002WildervsLiakhovichIMG_3336(Photo credit: Tom Casino/Showtime) By Scott Gilfoid: WBC Continental Americas heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (29-0, 29 KO’s) is now gunning for a world title to bring it back to the United States after his sensational 1st round knockout victory over former WBO heavyweight champion Sergei Liakhovich (25-6, 16 KO’s) last night at the Fantasy Springs Casino, in Indio, California, USA.

It only took the talented 6’7” Deontay a jab followed by 2 concussive right hands to put Liakhovoch down on his back on the canvas. Referee Tom Taylor immediately stopped the fight at 1:43 when he saw that Liakhovich was badly hurt on the canvas.

Deontay Wilder destroys Sergei Liakhovich in 1st round KO

deontay1By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten heavyweight talent Deontay Wilder (29-0, 29 KO’s) scored his 29th straight KO win with a 1st round knockout win over former WBO heavyweight champion Sergei Liakhovich (25-6, 16 KO’s) on Friday night at the Fantasy Springs Casino, in Indio, California, USA.

The 6’7″ Deontay nailed Liakhovich with a big right hand that drove him backwards from the force of the sledgehammer blow. Deontay added another right hand, and then put the coup de grace with a tremendous right hand to the head that sent Liakhovich down on the canvas. Liakhovich stayed down for a long time before getting up.

Liakhovich: I’m going to take Deontay Wilder into the deep waters

yK1TrA_cAX-7iImb_MyjslHn3SAA2jiMuC1YWp0nZmc(Photo Credit: Tom Casino/SHOWTIME) By Scott Gilfoid: Former WBO heavyweight champion Sergei Liakhovich (25-5, 16 KO’s) expects to take the talented American heavyweight Deontay Wilder (28-0, 28 KO’s) into the deeper rounds tonight to try and expose his chin and possible stamina problems at the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, Calif.

If Liakhovich can withstand Deontay’s huge right hand bombs in the first three rounds, this fight could be an interesting one. But that’s going to be tough for Liakhovich to be able to handle getting hit by a monster puncher like Deontay without hitting the canvas face first at some point in the first three rounds.

Wilder vs Liakovich: Deontay takes another baby step

Oi7ZD8ERTGCa6iCOK0tpfg7ECnnjd4cBXz4TstnRxI0(Photo credit: Tom Casino/Showtime) By Thomas Cowan: Unbeaten American heavyweight Deontay Wilder (28-0, 28 KO’s) will be facing former WBO champion Siarhei Liakovich tonight in Indio, California. Wilder was going to fight Dereck Chisora in July, but that fell through because Wilder is not currently allowed to travel outside the States for legal reasons. Wilder said he would be facing a Russian heavyweight who was “much better than Chisora”. As it turned out, neither of these statements were true.

Liakovich is not from Russia, he’s from Belarus. Obviously, this doesn’t make him a bad opponent, I just wouldn’t let Deontay book his own flights if he’s flying to Europe anytime soon. The main disappointment though, is that Liakovich isn’t a good opponent.
