Povetkin, 35, recently defeated the tough as nails Mike Perez by a 1st round knockout victory in their WBC heavyweight eliminator bout last May to set up his shot aginst Wilder.

Wilder destroys Molina

wilder5By Jim Dower: In a very poor performance, WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (34-0, 33 KOs) looked really sloppy, uncoordinated and unskilled in stopping #9 WBC Eric Molina (23-3, 17 KOs) in the 9th round on Saturday night to retain his WBC title at the Bartow Arena in Birmingham, Alabama. Wilder, 29, knocked Molina down four times in the fight.

Wilder put Molina down once in the 4th, twice in the 5th, and once in the 9th. The fight was halted in the 9th after Molina turned his back on Wilder after getting hit hard by a right hand. Wilder then dropped Molina with a chopping right to the head. Molina also turned his back to Wilder in the 5th for one of the knockdowns.

Deontay Wilder: Molina will be in the ring with a monster

Image: Deontay Wilder: Molina will be in the ring with a monster(Photo credit: Lucas Noonan/Premier Boxing Champions) By Scott Gilfoid: WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (33-0, 32 KOs) says that #9 WBC Eric Molina (23-2, 17 KOs) will be stepping inside the ring with a monster tonight when he gets in the ring with him in their fight on Showtime Championship Boxing. Wilder thinks this is a level that the 33-year-old Molina has never been on before.

It’s hard to disagree with Wilder because the best guy that Molina has faced in his eight year pro career is Chris Arreola, who blew him out in one round in their fight in 2012.

Eric Molina: I know I can hurt Deontay Wilder

Image: Eric Molina: I know I can hurt Deontay Wilder(Photo credit: Stephanie Trapp/SHOWTIME) By Scott Gilfoid: It’s no secret that #9 WBC Eric Molina (23-2, 17 KOs) is seen as nothing more than a simple fodder opponent for WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (33-0, 32 KOs) to blast out in short order tonight when these two giant heavyweights go at it on Showtime at the Bartow Arena, in Birmingham, Alabama, USA.

But despite people seeing the 6’5” Molina as a knockout waiting to happen tonight, Molina says he’s extremely confident of winning because he feels he’s got the power top hurt the 29-year-old Deontay with his shots. With that said, Molina is going to have to hope that he can land his big shots before Wilder nails him with something huge first.

Image: Deontay Wilder: I want all the belts, I’m greedy like that(Photo Credit: Stephanie Trapp/SHOWTIME) By Scott Gilfoid: After working hard to win the WBC heavyweight title last January, unbeaten Deontay Wilder (33-0, 32 KOs) isn’t about to let challenger Eric Molina (23-2, 17 KOs) take it off him on Saturday night in their fight on Showtime Championship Boxing.

Wilder isn’t going to let Molina have a chance of pulling off a big upset on Saturday night because he plans on scoring a quick knockout of the 6’5” fighter. Deontay wants to unify all the titles in the near future, as soon as he can get IBO/IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko to fight him.

Deontay Wilder concerned with Eric Molina’s height

DEONTAY WILDER-MEDIA WORKOUT-9831(Photo credit: Stephanie Trapp/SHOWTIME®) By Scott Gilfoid: WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (33-0, 32 KOs) realizes he’s in with a big guy with good punching power in facing the 6’4″ Eric Molina (23-2, 17 KOs) this Saturday night on Showtime from the Bartow Arena, in Birmingham, Alabama, USA.

Deontay Wilder punched Stiverne so hard that metal rods in his hand were bent

Bermane Stiverne vs Deontay WilderBy Scott Gilfoid: To show you the kind of incredible punching power that WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (33-0, 32 KOs) has, he was said to have hit former WBC heavyweight champion Bermane Stiverne so hard with a right hand to the head that it bent a metal rod that the 6’7” Wilder has in his surgically repaired right hand.

Wilder ended up suffering a broken right hand in that fight. It was the same hand that Wilder broke previously in his career. Even with the broken hand, Wilder dished out a one-sided beating to the 36-year-old Stiverne and was able to easily win the fight by a one-sided 12 round unanimous decision.

Anthony Joshua: I believe I’m a better boxer than Deontay Wilder

joshua888By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten #6 WBC Anthony Joshua (13-0, 13 KOs) says he would like to face former two division world champion David Haye of Britain in the near future if possible, but if he can’t get that fight, which would seem likely, then he’d be interested in facing WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (33-0, 32 KOs).

Joshua believes that he’s a better boxer than the 6’7” Wilder despite the 6’6” Joshua becoming slow, flat-footed and very rigid in his upper body in the past two years with all the muscle weight that he’s put on since he turned pro.
