Harrison just a stepping stone for Price

Image: Harrison just a stepping stone for PriceBy John F. McKenna (McJack): It is doubtful if many boxing insiders give former Olympic gold medalist Audley Harrison (28-5, 21 KO’S) much of a chance to defeat the rising star that is David Price (13-0, 11 KO’s). The current British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion at 6’8” is a fighter who is destined if all goes well to challenge the dominance of heavyweight king Wladimir Klitschko in the next year or two. Price appears to have all the tools to take him to the very pinnacle of success in the heavyweight division.

For that reason those who are guiding Price at this early stage of his career need to tread lightly and carefully before exposing him to a fighter who has a real chance to derail him in his quest for a title shot. In picking Audley Harrison as Price’s next opponent his management team appears to have chosen an opponent who has very little chance of achieving victory when the two clash on Saturday night at the ECHO Arena in Liverpool.

Price vs. Harrison, my prediction

Image: Price vs. Harrison, my predictionBy Mark Havey: This weekend will see a Heavyweight clash between David Price and Audley Harrison. Price is the hard hitting mountain from Liverpool. He has managed to make tough men appear to be cursed with glass jaws. Audley Harrison was hugely impressive as an amateur and won Olympic gold in 2000. As a professional he has been far from inspiring. Credit where it is true, he has had a few good fights, but not many.

Some people unequivocally agree with me. Others say I am being foolish for stacking such high odds against a big heavyweight like Harrison. But I have been fooled by Audley Harrison before, and it will never happen again. Everyone has heard his big claims in the past. He seems confident every single time. look at the way he was talking before the Haye fight, then compare it to the actual fight. Again Harrison is saying “the pressure is off me” “I’m back in love with boxing” the list goes on. Harrison says he was injured for his title fight against David Haye.

Khan closes twitter account?; Audley to test Price’s chin tomorrow night

Image: Khan closes twitter account?; Audley to test Price's chin tomorrow nightBy Sean McDaniel: According to reports Amir Khan has closed his twitter account. It’s unknown why Khan would do this, but sure the account does appear to be closed, saying “Sorry, that page doesn’t exist.” It’s no secret that Khan takes a lot of heat from fans on his twitter account, and it must be a real ordeal for him to constantly ban the legions of fans that criticize him on a daily basis.

Big Fight predictions: Price-Harrison, Donaire-Nishioka, Klitschko-Wach, More!

Image: Big Fight predictions: Price-Harrison, Donaire-Nishioka, Klitschko-Wach, More!(Photo credit: Naoki Fakuda) By Will Jackson Jr: This is my take on how some of the big fights that have been announced will end. Opinions below please.

13th October – David Price vs Audley Harrison – David Price wins in which will be a close fight unless Audley gets caught and KO’d early. When I say it will be close I mean Price will win a lot of the rounds but the rounds will be close.

13th October – James Degale vs Hadillah Mohoumadi – Degale wins but only by around 3 rounds.

13th October – Adonis Stevenson vs Don George – Stevanson wins in a close fight by decision or the 35 year old Stevenson might gas out and get KO’d mid way through or late on in the fight by George.

14th October – Nonito Donaire vs Toshiaki Nishioka – Donaire to win in a clear decision.

Weights: Harrison 245, Price 247

YouTube video
By Scott Gilfoid: Audley Harrison (28-5, 21 KO’s) weighed in today at the lowest weight for him in eight years in coming in at 245 pounds for his fight on Saturday night against British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion David Price (13-0, 11 KO’s). Harrison, 40, hasn’t been this low since he destroyed Richel Hersisia in four rounds in March, 2004. As for Price, he came in at 247 lbs, which is pretty much what he always weighs for his fights. No surprise there.

The real story here is Harrison’s weight. At coming in so light it shows you how serious he’s taking this fight. He’s had the best sparring that money can buy with talents like Malik Scott and Deontay Wilder helping him out on a daily basis for four weeks of hard sparring. Both Scott and Wilder are a lot faster than the slow, 6’8″ Price.

Harrison vs. Price: A Last Shot at Redemption for A-Force?

Image: Harrison vs. Price: A Last Shot at Redemption for A-Force?By Henry Farmer (lost): This weekend the Echo arena, Liverpool, England will play host to what will be one of the biggest selling BBBofC British Heavyweight Title fights in recent memory. 7,000 fans are expected to be in attendance this Saturday when Audley “A-Force” Harrison 28(21ko)-5 takes on the heavy handed unbeaten hot prospect in David Price 13(11)-0.

This is sure to be the last roll of the dice for the 40 year Audley Harrison in a professional career marred with short comings. There has never been any question over Harrison’s ability or power, but in his heart and willing to fight.

Harrison could earn himself a big payday if he beats Price

Image: Harrison could earn himself a big payday if he beats PriceBy Scott Gilfoid: All 40-year-old Audley Harrison (28-5, 21 KO’s) has to do is stroke British heavyweight champion David Price (13-0, 11 KO’s) out on Saturday night and he could wind up with a nice paying bout against one of the top fighters in the heavyweight division. It might not be against one of the Klitschkos, but I could Tyson Fury suddenly showing interest in fighting Harrison, if nothing else to show how he could do against the guy that smashed Price’s chin to smithereens.

There’s no question that Harrison is going to need to knock Price out on Saturday because he’s not going to beat him by a 12 round decision, no way. Price will jab Harrison’s head off if this fight goes 12, and it won’t go 12. Unless Harrison gets to Price’s tender chin early on, he’s going to get knocked out in this one. The loss will then pretty much finish Harrison’s career, although I really don’t believe that.

Wilder should get full credit if Harrison destroys Price on Saturday

By Scott Gilfoid: The man that should be given all the credit for a victory for 40-year-old Audley Harrison (28-5, 21 KO’s) this Saturday night over British heavyweight champion David Price (13-0, 11 KO’s) is the talented 6’7″ American Deontay Wilder (25-0, 25 KO’s), who gave Harrison four weeks of absolutely priceless sparring to get him ready for the 6’8″ Price.

Harrison: I’m going to walk through David Price

Image: Harrison: I'm going to walk through David PriceBy Scott Gilfoid: 40-year-old Audley Harrison (28-5, 21 KO’s) isn’t worried about British heavyweight David Price’s power going into their October 13th fight at the Echo Arena, in Liverpool, Merseyside, United Kingdom. All Harrison is focused on is getting to that fragile chin of the 6’8″ Price so that he can blast him out the same way that Roberto Cammarelle did.

Harrison said to thesun.co.uk “I talk a good fight, I know. But I am coming to walk through him. This is not talk this time.”
