Image: Harrison could earn himself a big payday if he beats PriceBy Scott Gilfoid: All 40-year-old Audley Harrison (28-5, 21 KO’s) has to do is stroke British heavyweight champion David Price (13-0, 11 KO’s) out on Saturday night and he could wind up with a nice paying bout against one of the top fighters in the heavyweight division. It might not be against one of the Klitschkos, but I could Tyson Fury suddenly showing interest in fighting Harrison, if nothing else to show how he could do against the guy that smashed Price’s chin to smithereens.

There’s no question that Harrison is going to need to knock Price out on Saturday because he’s not going to beat him by a 12 round decision, no way. Price will jab Harrison’s head off if this fight goes 12, and it won’t go 12. Unless Harrison gets to Price’s tender chin early on, he’s going to get knocked out in this one. The loss will then pretty much finish Harrison’s career, although I really don’t believe that.

It seems like heavyweight boxing in the UK is like club fighting with them fighting each other over and over again, even when a fighter is way past his prime. If Harrison loses to Price on Saturday, his career won’t be over. He’ll probably still get someone like Fury to fight him. If Fury was willing to fight Martin Rogan and Vinny Maddalone, then I can definitely see him fighting Harrsion.

Harrison can’t tive the 6’8″ Price any respect if he wants to win this fight. He’s got to go for that fragile chin immediately and look to cave it in with one of his big left hand shots. Price is there to be taken, but you have to really launch into him the way that Roberto Cammarelle did in order to beat him. Can Harrison does this? Physically he can, but I’m not so sure if he command his body to fight that way. The only thing that is keeping Harrison from having a good chance of stopping Price is Harrison himself. If he can just get over his stage fright and fight with all out abandon, he can win this fight. But I wonder whether he can.

Harrison is going to get a nice payday against someone if he can get past Price on Saturday. I hope Harrison realizes this and fights with a purpose because he’s going to be losing a lot if he gets beaten in this fight.
