Diaz-Marquez fought previously last year in an exciting fight that resulted in Marquez stopping Diaz in the 9th round on February 28th, 2009. The fight was so well received by boxing fans, that many of them immediately started clamoring for a rematch.

Jacobs, 23, will be fighting the 29-year-old Pirog for the World Boxing Association middleweight title that was recently stripped from Sergio Martinez, who couldn’t make up his mind in time to advise the WBO whether he intended on keeping the WBO title or instead only defending his WBC junior middleweight title.

By Jim Dower: Unbeaten middleweight contender Daniel Jacobs (20-0, 17 KO’s) could challenge for the middleweight title against either Felix Sturm or Sebastian Sylvester, according to Sportsillustrated. Jacobs, only 23, destroyed Juan Astorga in two rounds last weekend on the undercard of the Amir Khan vs. Paulie Malignaggi fight at Madison Square Garden, in New York. Jacobs looked very impressive in that fight, and knocked Astorga down four times before stopping him in the 2nd.

Jacobs, ranked #4 WBA, #6 WBO and #6 WBC, came out firing big power shots in the opening round. He quickly put the 31-year-old Astorga down with a left to the mid section followed by a left to the head.

Khan-Malignaggi undercard: Jacobs stops Astorga, Ortiz and Prescott wins

By Eric Thomas: Victor Ortiz (27-2-1, 21 KOs) defeated Nate Campbell (33-6-1, 25 KOs) by a 10 round unanimous decision on Saturday night at Madison Square Garden, in New York. The fight was far from exciting, as Ortiz dominated Campbell, making him look his age. The entire fight card was pretty dull, filled with mismatches like this fight. This bout may have looked good on paper, but in reality it wasn’t even close. Ortiz had too much speed and power for the smaller, older Campbell to deal with.

Additionally, the card will have Nate Campbell vs. Victor Ortiz. Apparently, Oscar De La Hoya from Golden Boy Promotions is looking to try and put this fight together and add it to the Khan-Malignaggi undercard.
