Daniel Jacobs [17-0(15)] vs Ishe Smith [21-3(9)]
By Jason Kim: Middleweight contender Daniel Jacobs (18-0, 15 KO’s) defeated former star of The Contender reality boxing series Ishe Smith (21-4, 9 KO’s) tonight by a very questionable 10-round unanimous decision at the Toyota, Center, in Houston, Texas. The final judges’ scores were 96-93, 100-89 and 96-93. I personally had Smith winning the bout by two rounds based on his much better accuracy with his punches and his better overall boxing skills.

Round 1
Seconds into the round, and already the size difference is apparent. Walton lunges forward, backing Jacobs into the ropes with his straight jab. He fires away with lunging shots, but misses badly. Jacobs lands a few combinations as he circles the ring. Walton continues to be the aggressor.
10-9 Jacobs

By Brock Kaiser: It has been said that boxing, perhaps more than any other sport, separates those with the talent and heart to succeed with others whose ability (or lack there of) is based purely on hype, as hype can only take you so far before having to prove it in the ring.
Consider the case of Charles “Kid” McCoy:
In addition to being one of the most controversial and popular figures in boxing history, McCoy is also a member of Boxing’s Hall of Fame.
