Dawson schools Hopkins, captures WBC light heavyweight title
By Jim Dower: 29-year-old Chad Dawson (31-1, 17 KO’s) took 47-year-old Bernard Hopkins (52-6-2, 32 KO’s) to school tonight, dominating him through 12 rounds in winning a 12 round majority decision to capture Hopkins’ World Boxing Council light heavyweight title at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The final judges’ scores were 117-111, 117-111 and 114-114.

Will Hopkins’ anger work for him against Dawson?
By Allan Fox: The common wisdom in boxing is it’s never a good thing for a fighter to fight with anger, because they’re not thinking clearly and ended up making a lot of foolish mistakes. If you’ve watched the roundtable interview with 47-year-old WBC light heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins and his opponent Chad Dawson, you’ll note that Hopkins looked extremely angry. He also looked angry at the weigh-in on Friday.
