By Eric Thomas: In a big upset, lightweight contender Breidis Prescott (21-1, 18 KO’s) was defeated by Mexican Miguel Vazquez (25-3, 12 KO’s) by a 10-round split decision on Friday night at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino, in Las Vegas, Nevada. The judges’ scored it 97-92 for Prescott, and 95-94 and 96-93 for Vazquez.

Valero, 27, had a chance to fight Prescott next, but instead Valero turned his back on the fight, saying that he wanted to take on a bigger named opponent.

Chavez Jr., 23, would appear to be the least likely opponent that Pacquiao would be interested in fighting for a number of reasons, starting with Chavez Jr’s size. Julio fights as a light middleweight, and it would probably be quite difficult for him to get down to what would likely be a bout at 140.

By Jim Dower: Undefeated lightweight Breidis Prescott (21-0, 18 KOs) defeated Humberto Toledo (34-6-2, 20 KOs) in a 10th round disqualification on Friday night at the University Center Arena, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Prescott, 25, was way ahead in the fight in the 10th having won every round when Toledo, perhaps upset that Prescott was clinching him a lot in the final round, bite Prescott on his left shoulder.

Yuriorkis Gamboa did it again. ARENA’s fast rising featherweight superstar scored his next impressive k.o. win stopping veteran Walter Estrada in only 35 seconds. “El Ciclon” lived up to his name simply blowing away his opponent with one of his overwhelming combinations. Gamboa went to the body with his left and followed up with a stunning right to the head that put Estrada straight to the campus.
