Eubank Jr ready to end Saunders’ career

eubank56By Scott Gilfoid: European Boxing Union middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders (20-0, 11 KOs) recently said that he’ll hang up the gloves if he loses his next fight to #15 WBO Chris Eubank Jr (17-0, 12 KOs) on November 29th at the ExCel Arena in London, UK.

Eubank Jr, 25, plans on testing Saunders’ word by beating him and then seeing if he will actually retire or not. If Saunders doesn’t retire, then it just means that he was flapping his gums without meaning what he was saying.

Saunders: I’ll retire from boxing if I lose to Chris Eubank Jr

saunders67By Scott Gilfoid: #2 WBO, #4 WBC, #8 IBF, #12 WBA middleweight contender Billy Joe Saunders (20-0, 11 KOs) says he’s going to retire from boxing if he loses to #15 WBO Chris Eubank Jr (17-0, 12 KOs) in their grudge match next month on November 29th at the ExCel Arena, Dockland, in London, United Kingdom.

Saunders, 25, seems to take it as insult if he gets beaten by Eubank Jr for some reason. It’s hard to understand why though because Saunders has yet to cut his teeth on the true top tier of the middleweight division so it shouldn’t be a surprise if he gets beaten by one of the fringe level contenders like Eubank Jr.

Saunders-Eubank Jr fight signed for November 29th in London, UK

eubank34By Scott Gilfoid: For boxing fans interested in a domestic level scrap, the grudge match between #2 WBO middleweight contender Billy Joe Saunders (20-0, 11 KOs) and #15 WBO Chris Eubank Jr (17-0, 12 KOs) has reportedly been signed by both fighters for a fight that will take place next month on November 29th at the ExCel Arena, Dockland, in London, United Kingdom.

It recently looked like the fight wasn’t going to happen after Eubank Jr failed to sign the contract for the fight after it was sent out. Saunders then was looking to move on to challenge for the vacant WBO middleweight title against Matt Korobov.

That fight would have likely taken place if not for Eubank Jr having a change of mind, because Demetrius Andrade, the fighter that was supposed to be fighting Korobov, opted not to take the fight. That left the spot available to Saunders if he wanted to take the shot. But Saunders will still get a crack at the WBO title if he can get past Eubank Jr.

Exciting times for the Brits

saunders56235By Kbarsey: Nigel Benn, Chris Eubank Snr, Johnny Nelson, Naseem Hamed, Lennox Lewis, Joe Calzaghe just to name a few have all been fantastic boxers who have had successful careers. As have many Brits from our Previous generation (too many to list).

But as we embark on 2015 I truly believe Britain’s boxing scene has something to be excited about. Assessing Britain’s current crop of talent one has to believe that they will surpass our previous generation.

Kell Brook in my opinion did fantastically well, Carl Froch still possesses two world titles. Jamie Mcdonnell is also a world champion as is Scott Quigg and Carl Frampton.

Billy Joe Saunders vs. Chris Eubank Jr added to Chisora-Fury 2 card on November 29th

eubank2By Scott Gilfoid: #2 WBO, #8 IBF, #12 WBA Billy Joe Saunders (20-0, 11 KOs) will be facing #15 WBO Chris Eubank Jr (17-0, 12 KOs) on November 29th on the undercard of the Dereck Chisora vs. Tyson Fury 2 card at the Excel Arena in London, UK.

The Saunders-Eubank Jr was officially added today. Saunders, 25, had been hoping to get a shot at the vacant WBO middleweight title that was recently vacated by Peter Quillin. But the World Boxing Organization chose instead to have Demetrius Andrade face #1 WBO Matt Korobov for the vacant WBO 160 pound title based on the better quality opposition that Andrade has been facing compared to Saunders, who hadn’t fought a decent quality opponent for 14 months.

saunders56235By Scott Gilfoid: A fight between #1 WBO Matt Korobov (24-0, 14 KOs) and #2 WBO Billy Joe Saunders (20-0, 11 KOs) is reportedly in the works for November 22nd to fight for the vacant WBA middleweight title that was recently vacated by Peter Quillin.

Top Rank, the promoters for Korobov, are working with Saunders’ promoter Frank Warren to setup the fight. The idea is to have the Korobov-Saunders fight take place on the undercard of the November 22nd fight between Tyson Fury and Dereck Chisora at the ExCel Arena in London, UK.

Saunders defeats Blandamura; Eubank Jr obliterates Jukic in 1st round KO

saundersBy Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten Billy Joe Saunders (20-0, 11 KO’s) stayed undefeated tonight in stopping 34-year-old Italian fringe contender Emanuele Blandamura (22-1, 5 KOs) in the 8th round to capture the vacant European middleweight title at the Phones 4U Arena in Manchester, UK.

Due to heavyweight Tyson Fury pulling out of his scheduled fight against Alexander Ustinov due to a family illness, the Saunders-Blandamura fight was moved up to the main event. Saunders struggled badly with the faster Blandamura until hitting him with a wild right hand in the 8th round that had the Italian out on his feet.

Billy Joe Saunders: Cotto’s style is perfect for mine

saunders56235By Scott Gilfoid: #3 WBO, #5 WBC, #8 IBF, #13 WBA Billy Joe Saunders (19-0, 10 KOs) will be facing fringe contender #13 IBF, #15 WBC Emanuele Blandamura (22-0, 5 KOs) in a fight for the vacant European middleweight title on Saturday night in the co-feature fight on the Tyson Fury vs. Alexander Ustinov card at the Phones 4U Arena in Manchester, UK.

Saunders, who is all of 24, wants a title shot against the likes of WBC champ Miguel Cotto or WBO champion Peter Quillin. Indeed, Saunders like his chances of beating either of those guys, and he doesn’t rate 40-year-old IBF champ Sam Soliman.

Billy Joe Saunders wants Peter Quillin fight

saunders3By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten middleweight contender Billy Joe Saunders (19-0, 10 KO’s) is hoping he can line himself up for a world title shot against WBO middleweight champion Peter Quillin if Saunders can get past little known Emanuele Blandemura (22-0, 5 KO’s) in their fight on July 26th for the vacant European middleweight title at the Phones4U Arena in Manchester, UK.

Saunders doesn’t have much in the way of punching power, and it’s hard to imagine him doing any better than Quillin’s last opponent Lukas Konecny. In fact, I think Konecny is a far better fighter than Saunders with better power, more experience and better skills.
