dirrell433434By Scot Gilfoid: Next month, on October 17th, the Super Six tournament starts with two first two bouts of the series with super middleweights Arthur Abraham vs. Jermain Taylor and Andre Dirrell vs. Carl Froch in what will likely be two explosive bouts. The third bout, Andre Ward vs. Mikkel Kessler, will take place a month later on November 21st.

Jermain Taylor – His Fourth Last Chance

taylor4245338By Quinton Emerson: Jermain Taylor (28-3-1, 17 KO’s)) has had quite a few last chances. Fights against Kelly Pavlik (2nd Fight), Jeff Lacy, and Carl Froch were all his “last chance.” So it’s no surprise that his upcoming fight with Arthur Abraham (30-0) is also his last chance. They meet in the 1st round of Showtime’s Super Six World Boxing Classic on 10/17. This brings up an interesting question. Why is Taylor even in this tournament? Let’s look back at Taylor’s career.

Abraham Counting on Defeating Taylor, and Winning Super Six Tourney

abraham434554By Jason Kim: Former IBF middleweight champion (30-0, 24 KO’s) is looking forward to getting started in Showtime’s Super Six tournament which begins on October 17th. Abraham, 29, will be facing former middleweight champion Jermain Taylor on October 17th, in the group I portion of the competition. Abraham, like Taylor, has moved up to the super middleweight division out of necessity because of the burden it had become to make the 160 pound weight limit of the middleweight division.

Abraham-Taylor: Does Jermain Win This?

By Jim Dower: I’m still wondering why former WBC/WBO middleweight champion Jermain Taylor (28-3-1, 17 KO’s) was invited to Showtime’s Super Six tournament instead of fighters like Allan Green and Sakio Bika. It seems as if Taylor is partially being rewarded by his popularity and from things that he did as a fighter in the past rather than in recent times. It could be that Taylor is being given a second chance.

Abraham vs. Taylor: Does Jermain Have Enough Left to Win?

taylor234234By Sean McDaniel: Former WBC/WBO middleweight champion Jermain Taylor (28-3-1. 17 KO’s) has been given a very tough match up in his first bout of the Super Six super middleweight group I competition in facing former International Boxing Federation middleweight champion Arthur Abraham (30-0, 24 KO’s) in Germany. Taylor, 30, is coming off of a 12th round knockout defeat to WBC super middleweight title holder Carl Froch on April 25th of this year, and it’s not good timing that Taylor is going to be facing another big knockout puncher in the form of 29-year-old Abraham in his first fight of the tourney.

Will Froch Lose to All Three of His Super Six Group I Opponents?

froch45348By Scott Gilfoid: I really like WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch as a fighter. He kind of reminds me of a throwback fighter from the 1940s. That said, I find it hard to see Froch getting out of the first round of the Super Six group I bouts starting on October 17th. Froch, 32, has three tough opponents starting with Andre Dirrell, then Mikkel Kessler and ending with Arthur Abraham to round out the first part of the competition.
