Martinez stops Barker in 11th!; Andy Lee dominates Brian Vera in rematch
By Jason Kim: WBC Diamond middleweight champion Sergio Martinez (48-2-2, 28 KO’s) struggled with a slow start in the first six rounds to come back strong in the next half of the fight to scored an 11th round stoppage win over a tough but limited Darren Barker (23-1, 14 KO’s) on Saturday night at the Boardwalk Hall, Atlantic City, New Jersey. Andy Lee interested in a rematch with Bryan Vera
By Dan Ambrose: If middleweight contender Andy Lee (15-1, 19 KO’s) can’t get a title shot against one of the middleweight champion in his next fight, Lee says he’d be interested in avenging his 7th round knockout loss to slugger Bryan Vera (18-5, 11 KO’s) from March 2008. Lee was batted around by Vera in that fight and looked awful. Lee has rebounded from that defeat and won his last 10 fights. Mosley recently, Lee defeated previously unbeaten middleweight contender Craig McEwan by a 10 round TKO on March 12th.
Andy Lee stops McEwan, looks horrible
By Dan Ambrose: Middleweight contender Andy Lee (25-1, 19 KO’s) ended up stopping contender Craig McEwan (19-1, 10 KO’s) in the 10th round last Saturday night on the undercard of the Sergio Martinez vs. Sergiy Dzinziruk bout at the Foxwoods Resort Casino, in Mashantucket, Connecticut. However, it was one of those kinds of wins where you look like a loser even in winning. The problem with the 26-year-old Lee is that he showed the exact same flaws as he did in his 7th round TKO loss to Brian Vera in 2008.
