dirrell-froch123455By Dennis Broadhurst: Sorry for the late article but I only saw the Froch-Dirrell fight last night. I am a British boxer and boxing fan so I was favoring Froch on this one, I wanted Froch to win. After seeing the boring early start to the fight I expected Froch to come on strong and put Dirrell under pressure but he didn’t. All the fight showed was the skill and lightning speed of the young American who I think should be 19-0. I am afraid I have to agree with another writer on this site who I have criticised in the past, he was right, Dirrell should have won that fight.

Froch did not look himself all night, that was because Dirrell had the style to beat him, Dirrell was landing very quick, hard punches all through the fight after round three. Froch was terrible at moving forward and did not go to the body much at all. I mean being serious if you hit the body all night long that speed will decrease, how did Froch not see that? I think Froch will do better against Kessler than he did against Dirrell because he will have something to hit.

Dirrell put on a performance that was very promising, all I can say is that he should have traded with Froch a little more as his punches were affecting Froch. One thing that Dirrell didn’t do and this is the reason that he cannot be compared to Muhammad Ali, he does not punch when he is moving backwards. Ali could knock a man out while he was on the back foot which is something only him and Sugar Ray Robinson really mastered. If Dirrell had done this he would have won the fight hands down.

I would like to see Dirrell go places in the boxing world because in terms of skill he is light years ahead of the rest of the division, lets just hope his chin is up to world class standard.
