By Chris Williams: Amir Khan (21-1, 15 KO’s) is being showered with praise since beating paper champion WBA light welterweight champion Andriy Kotelnik last Saturday night by a 12 round unanimous decision at the M.E.N. Arena, in Manchester. Khan used his speed, movement and some good combinations to outclass the slower Kotelnik, who just looked too one dimensional to contend with what Khan was offering up.

Hatton Not Interested in Fighting Khan: Is Ricky Afraid of Amir?
By William Mackay: Earlier today, Ricky Hatton took the air out of the possibility of him fighting World Boxing Association light welterweight champion Amir Khan by saying “I don’t think I have to beat Amir to prove anything.” Although Hatton didn’t come right out and say so, his lack of interest in coming out and taking on the 22-year-old Khan seems strange and more than a little odd that Hatton wasn’t jumping all over a fight with the younger Khan.
Khan’s Victory Over Kotelnik Proves Little
By Scott Gilfoid: While it’s nice that Amir Khan’s chin was able to hold together long enough for him to beat World Boxing Association light welterweight champion Andriy Kotelnik last weekend by a 12-round decision, let’s not get things twisted and make more out of what Khan accomplished that what he did. This was, after all, a handpicked opponent that Khan went after and not a dangerous puncher.
Khan-Hatton: Aside from Money, Is There Any Reason Why This Fight Should Happen?
By Michael Williams: Amir Khan’s victory over Andreas Kotelnik at the MEN Arena in Manchester on Saturday night brought a dream to reality for the Bolton born boxer. Khan’s classy points victory over the Ukrainian earned him the WBA light welterweight crown at the tender age of just 22 and showcased how far his game has come since his Breidis Prescott defeat.

Khan Defeats Kotelnik, Captures WBA light Welterweight crown
By Jim Dower: 2004 Olympic silver medalist Amir Khan (21-1, 15 KO’s) easily defeated World Boxing Association light welterweight champion Andriy Kotelnik (31-3-1, 13 KO’s) by a 12-round unanimous decision tonight to grab Kotelnik’s title at the M.E.N. Arena, in Manchester. The final judges’ scores were 120-108, 118-111 and 118-111. Kotelnik, 31, never really was competitive in the fight. Khan, 22, had far too much speed and was able to get the better of him in most of the exchanges in the fight. Khan stayed on the move and easily picked off the slower Kotelnik, who seemed at a loss what to do against the constantly moving Khan.

By Scott Gilfoid: Amir Khan (20-1, 15 KO’s) will be fighting for the World Boxing Association title on Saturday night against champion Andriy Kotelnik (31-2-1, 13 KO’s) at the M.E.N Arena, in Manchester, England. At first glance, it’s difficult to see how Khan deserves to be fighting for a world title because he’s yet to beat a quality fighter that wasn’t somehow cut up or just plain old, like in the case of his one victory over the hand picked 35-year-old Marco Antonio Barrera.
