By William Mackay: Former WBA heavyweight champion Ruslan Chagaev (27-1, 17 KO’s) will be fighting unbeaten Alexander Povetkin (21-0, 15 KO’s) for David Haye’s WBA paper heavyweight title that Haye recently lost to IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko last weekend by a 12 round decision in Hamburg.
Steward: Wladimir will likely fight in December, possibly against Chisora or Povetkin
By William Mackay: Emanuel Steward sees IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (56-3, 49 KO’s) back in the ring around the middle of December against contenders possibly Dereck Chisora or Alexander Povetkin depending on how things go in Chisora’s July 23rd bout against Tyson Fury. If Fury wins the fight, Steward says Wladimir probably won’t be fighting Fury. Steward sees the still very gree Fury moving ahead picking up more experience to improve slowly. Steward is giving Fury the edge over Chisora in their match-up.

By Eric Thomas: Although IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko captured the WBA heavyweight title last weekend with a 12 round decision win over World Boxing Association heavyweight champion David Haye, the WBA has elevated Wladimir to the WBA Super world heavyweight champion and will have the WBA regular title open for top contenders Ruslan Chagaev and Alexander Povetkin to fight for it.

By William Mackay: With the British Boxing Board of Control likely to say no to WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (25-1, 23 KO’s) fighting former WBA heavyweight champion Ruslan Chagaev in the UK, it leaves Haye with the choice of fighting Chagaev in Germany or deciding to forget about him altogether and just choosing instead to face the number #2 contender unbeaten Alexander Povetkin (21-0, 15 KO’s).

By Jim Dower: It’s reported that former WBA heavyweight champion Ruslan Chagaev is likely not going to be approved by the British Boxing Board of Control for the next opponent of WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (25-1, 23 KO’s). Instead, the 30-year-old Haye is going to face former 2004 Olympic heavyweight Gold Medalist Alexander Povetkin to negotiate a fight for May 21st. According to boxrec, Haye and Povetkin are already in successful negotiations.

By Sean McDaniel: WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (25-1, 23 KO’s) could end up getting a big break if his #1 mandatory challenger Ruslan Chagaev (27-1, 17 KO’s) fails to receive medical clearance by the British Boxing Board of Control to fight Haye in the UK. Chagaev, 32, reportedly had Hepatitis B in the past, and if that illness is still lingering inside of him, the BBBofC will not let Chagaev fight Haye inside the UK.

By Eric Thomas: 2004 Olympic heavyweight Gold Medalist Alexander Povetkin (19-0, 14 KO’s) plans on fighting on October 20th against an opponent still to be determined at the Stadthalle, Rostock, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. Povetkin, 31, opted to not face IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko next, despite Povetkin being the IBF mandatory challenger for the 34-year-old Klitschko. Povetkin’s trainer Teddy Atlas felt that Povetkin wasn’t ready for the fight at this time.
