Klitschko vs. Sosnowski mismatch takes place today

Image: Klitschko vs. Sosnowski mismatch takes place todayPhoto credit: Pavel Terekhov – By Jim Dower: WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (39-2, 37 KO’s) will be making an optional title defense against his #11 ranked WBC opponent Alberto Sosnowski (45-2-1, 27 KO’s) in what is almost guaranteed to be a terrible mismatch at the Veltins Arena, Gelsenkirchen, in Germany. Like a lot of his opponents, Sosnowski thinks he actually has a chance, saying in an article at the Mirror “I don’t think it is a huge step up in class. Vitali is pretty predictable.” This is amusing coming from Sosnowski, who struggled against Danny Williams and was soundly beaten by journeyman Zuri Lawrence. Sosnowski, 31, is faster than Vitali, but he’s not a real huge puncher.

Image: 60,000 expected for Klitschko-Sosnowski on SaturdayPhoto credit: Pavel Terekhov – By William Mackay: Saturday’s fight between World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (39-2, 37 KO’s) and his handpicked opponent Alberto Sosnowski (45-2-1, 27 KO’s) is expected to draw as many as 60,000 fans at the Veltins Arena, in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. This is an extraordinary number of fans for a fight that is a terrible mismatch before the first punch has even been thrown. The 38-year-old Klitschko selected the #11 ranked WBC contender over higher ranked and arguably much more talented fighters like Odlanier Solis, Denis Boytsov, Nikolay Valuev, Tomasz Adamek, Tony Thompson and Samuel Peter.

Sosnowski says he’s “100 percent convinced” he’ll beat Vitali Klitschko on Saturday

Image: Sosnowski says he’s “100 percent convinced” he’ll beat Vitali Klitschko on SaturdayPhoto credit: Pavel Terekhov – By Jim Dower: It’s scary sometimes when a totally over-matched opponent is acting and talking overly confident before a fight where they have almost zero chance of winning. This description would fit Polish heavyweight Alberto Sosnowski (45-2-1, 27 KO’s) perfectly as he prepares for Saturday’s fight against World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (39-2, 37 KO’s). In an article at Supersport.com, Sosnowski, 31, says “I am one hundred percent convinced that on Sunday I will be the new champion. I will be writing history.” If Sosnowski had actually beaten someone of worth in the top 15, I could understand his confidence.

Will Vitali Klitschko carry Sosnowski for a few rounds or will he wipe him out immediately?

Image: Will Vitali Klitschko carry Sosnowski for a few rounds or will he wipe him out immediately?Photo credit: Pavel Terekhov – By Dan Ambrose: WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (39-2, 37 KO’s) has the perfect opponent for him to beat up on this Saturday night in facing Alberto Sosnowski (45-2-1, 27 KO’s) at the Veltins Arena, Gelsenkirchen, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany. Sosnowski, 31, is totally unproven at the world level, with many of his wins coming against fighters that aren’t anywhere near the 1st tier. Vitali obviously saw something in Sosnowski to make him want to fight him, perhaps his flashy 45-2 record.

Klitschko-Sosnowski: Look for an easy knockout win for Vitali

Image: Klitschko-Sosnowski: Look for an easy knockout win for VitaliPhoto credit: Pavel Terekhov – By Chris Williams: WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (39-2, 37 KO’s)reached deep into the pile of heavyweight champion hopefuls to select Alberto Sosnowski (45-2-1, 27 KO’s), who he faces this Saturday night in Germany. What makes the pick to bad is that Sosnowski, a decent European level fighter, has never remotely proven that he’s a world class fighter during his career. Indeed, Sosnowski was beaten by journeyman Zuri Lawrence in 2008.

Vitali Klitschko complains about the lack of competition at heavyweight and Haye’s reluctance to fight him

Image: Vitali Klitschko complains about the lack of competition at heavyweight and Haye’s reluctance to fight himPhoto credit – Pavel Terekhov – By Chris Williams: WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (39-2, 37 KO’s) is still holding out hope that WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (24-1, 22 KO’s) will step up to the plate and fight him or his brother IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko. Vitali, 38, is disappointed by Haye’s seemingly reluctance to fight him and he’s also unhappy with the lack of big named opponents for him to fight. This Saturday night, Vitali will be fighting the little known Polish heavyweight Alberto Sosnowski (45-2-1, 27 KO’s) at the Veltins Arena, Gelsenkirchen, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany.

Sosnowski says Vitali Klitschko is past his prime

Image: Sosnowski says Vitali Klitschko is past his primeBy Chris Williams: 38-year-old WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (39-2, 37 KO’s) is considered by most boxing fans to either be the number #1 or #2 heavyweight in the entire heavyweight division. However, his challenger for his upcoming May 29th bout in Germany, Polish heavyweight Alberto Sosnowski (45-2-1, 27 KO’s) thinks different, saying, according to Fightfranchise.com, “I realize that all the experts consider me a long shot, but Klitschko will regret having given me this opportunity. He’s already passed his prime. Many of his fights have been against living punching bags, who had already lost in the locker room. You only have an opportunity like this once in a lifetime and I want to use it. I’ll show Vitali and become the first Polish heavyweight champion.”

Vitali Klitschko vs. Sosnowski this Saturday night

Image: Vitali Klitschko vs. Sosnowski this Saturday nightBy Chris Williams: WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (39-2, 37 KO’s) fights Alberto Sosnowski (45-2-1, 27 KO’s) this Saturday night at the Veltins Arena, Gelsenkirchen, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany. The fight has little appeal for many boxing fans because Sosnowski, a European heavyweight from Poland, is little known outside of Europe. In addition, he has done little to distinguish himself in his 12 round pro career other than beating a huge number of 2nd and 3rd tier heavyweights with little name value. Of the few times that Sosnowski has faced good B level, he has had a very tough time.
