By Dave Lahr: WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (39-2, 37 KO’s) will be making his fourth defense of his World Boxing Council heavyweight title later on this month on May 29th against Albert Sosnowski (45-2-1, 27 KO’s) at the Veltins Arena, Gelsenkirchen, Nordrhein-Westfalen, in Germany. Sosnowski’s record is impressive, except that almost all the wins have come against 2nd tier heavyweights. At 6’2″, 228, Sosnowski really has his work cut out for him against the 6’7″ Klitschko.

Klitschko-Sosnowski: Will Vitali step it up after destroying Sosnowski on May 29th
By Dave Lahr: Incredibly, ticket sales are reportedly doing really well for the mismatch between World Boxing Council (WBC) heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (39-2, 37 KO’s) and his horribly over-matched opponent Alberto Sosnowski (45-2-1, 27 KO’s) for May 29th at the Veltins Arena, Gelsenkirchin, in Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany. Klitschko, 38, has found a soft touch in 31-year-old 12 ranked WBC contender Sosnowski. This fight has 2nd round knockout written all over it, but incredibly the German boxing fans are scoping up tickets for this mismatch in droves, as if the fight was a compelling one instead of the mismatch that it appears to be.

By Jason Kim: World Boxing Council (WBC) heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (39-2, 37 KO’s) will return to action next month on May 29th against contender Alberto Sosnowski (45-2-1, 27 KO’s) at the Veltins Arena, Gelsenkirchen, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany. The bout has mismatch written all over it, as the 38-year-old Vitali has done a rare thing by dipping way down the rankings to hand pick the number #13 ranked Sosnowski for a fight at the Veltins Arena.
Vitali Klitschko promises an “unforgettable performance” against Sosnowski
Photo credit: Tom Loeffler – By Dave Lahr: WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (39-2, 37 KO’s) is promising to put in an impressive performance against his hand-picked opponent Albert Sosnowski (45-2-1, 27 KO’s) when he fights the Polish heavyweight on May 29th, at the Veltins Arena, in Gelsenkirchen, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany. Klitschko, 38, has picked Sosnowski, a fighter ranked number #13 by the World Boxing Council, over more qualified opponents like unbeaten Cuban Odlanier Solis, Denis Boytsov and Alexander Povetkin. It looks as if Klitschko is looking to get an easy payday after looking pretty horrible in his last fight against American Kevin Johnson in December.
Klitschko vs. Sosnowski: Is Vitali cherry picking?
By David Lahr: After failing at putting together a fight against 7-foot former World Boxing Association heavyweight champion Nikolay Valuev, WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (39-2, 37 KO’s) has decided to take on number #13 ranked WBC heavyweight contender Albert Sosnowski (45-2-1, 27 KO’s) on May 29th, at the Veltins Arena, Gelsenkirchen, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany. This is the same arena that Vitali’s younger brother IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko successfully defended his two titles in last year in June, stopping Ruslan Chagaev in the 9th round in front of 61,000 fans.

Sosnowski Stops Williams In 8th Round! – Latest Boxing News
By Nate Anderson: Polish heavyweight Albert Sosnowski (44-2, 27 KOs) shockingly stopped 35 year-old Danny Williams (40-7, 31 KOs) in the 8th round of a scheduled 10-round bout on Saturday night at the York Hall, Bethnal Green, in London. The ending came suddenly, when Sosnowski dropped Williams with a powerful left hook at the start of the 8th round. It was a perfect punch, thrown with a lot of power, almost guaranteeing that Williams would find it virtually impossible to make out of the remainder of the round given the amount of time left in the round.
Williams groggily got to his feet and was met with a storm of punches from Sosnowski, who staggered Williams with a big left-right combination, causing for referee Richard James Davies to step in between them and halt the fight at 1:17 of the 8th round.
Following the fight, Sosnowski said “When I fight with good boxers, my skills are good but when I fight with bad ones, I don’t do as well.”
Sosnowski Stops Pucheta
WBF heavyweight champion Albert Sosnowski (41-1, 25 KOs) destroyed Argentinian challenger Manuel Alberto Pucheta (18-2, 12 KOs) in the 2nd round on Friday night at the Ice Rink, Kirkcaldy, in Scotland. Pucheta, 36, was knocked down three times in the process before the referee Terry O’Connor put a stop to the massacre at 2:03 of the 2nd round. Sosnowski, 28, nicknamed “The Dragon,” slowly stalked Pucheta in the first round, hitting him with right hooks and jabs, though mostly just stalking him.
Pucheta, for his part, looked badly out of shape, perhaps at least 30 lbs overweight. His conditioning or lack thereof, proved to be a problem for him, as he was already gasping for breath by the end of the first round and having difficulties keeping his hands up. He did, however, throw more punches than Sosnowski in the first round, though most of them were wild hammakers which badly missed Sosnowski. Towards the end of the round, Sosnowski landed a left-right combination and then another left hook that crashed into Pucheta’s face, sending him falling backwards to the ring ropes, where he then slid down to the canvas.
