It’s just too bad that Broner will likely destroy the 32-year-old Malignaggi.

ESPN analyst Teddy Atlas is one of many people who see Broner as simply being too strong for the light hitting Malignaggi to beat.

Atlas said last night on ESPN “Paulie Malignaggi isn’t a puncher, and for people who think he has a chance in what would be a pretty significant upset, if they’re looking for him to be the bigger fighter, wrong.

Probably the quietest thing about this matchup will be the actual fight itself. In saying that we have two technically gifted boxers facing each other.

I think this fight depends on Malignaggi. Can he keep up the pace and land quick combos while keeping his distance for the duration or have the legs two many miles on them and it’s just a matter of time before Broner catches up with him.

Whether you want to admit it or not, you are looking forward to this fight and whatever you say about the press conference trash talk, Broner and Malignaggi have sold this bout, and they’ve sold it well.

This brings me on to a point that I’d like to address. The media and some boxing fans alike, have brandished the trash talk from both fighters as “disgraceful”, “unsportsmanlike” and so on. The way it has been lamented makes it seem as though grown men cursing at one another and dishing out insults is something we never see. Broner and Malignaggi don’t like each other, and this is not the first time in boxing that pre-fight talk has become personal.

By Jim Dower: WBA welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi (32-4, 7 KO’s) made weight today for his fight against challenger Adrien Broner (26-0, 22 KO’s) tomorrow night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Looking drawn and thin, Malignaggi weighed in at 146.4 pounds. Broner looked a lot healthier in weighing in at a solid 146.8.

Malignaggi was really animated during the stare down with Broner, constantly talking and motioning for Broner to look him in the eyes. Broner turned away first and that’s when Malignaggi started getting really animated; thinking possibly that Broner was showing signs of fear. It looks like Malignaggi is trying to get an edge over Broner any way he can.

Broner will be getting $375,000 more than Malignaggi in this fight with a purse of $1.5 million compared to Malignaggi’s $1.125 million, according to Dan Rafael of ESPN.

On the undercard, heavyweight Seth Mitchell will be getting $100,000 while his opponent Johnathan Banks will be getting $180,000.

In the super middleweight match-up between Sakio Bika and Marco Antonio Periban, Bika will get $125,000 compared to Periban’s $50,000. Bika and Periban will be fighting for the vacant WBC super middleweight title that was stripped from Andre Ward.
