Mayweather-Pacquiao from a judge point of view

floyd002By Yan D: I think everything as been said about the mega fight. Fan from each sides believe their own fighter has the necessary tools to defeat their opponent. Manny Pacquiao’s fans all strongly believe in a KO that will humble the “monster” that is Floyd Mayweather Jr. Mayweather’s fans on the other end believe Manny will be easy work for the Money man, both sides have a right to their opinion and I respect that, but none of them are looking at this from the right point of view.

First of all this fight won’t end by a KO. Sorry to disappoint, but the most likely scenario is a 12 round fight, so the judges are gonna be responsible for crowing a winner.

Fighters Mayweather has supposedly ducked

floyd5444By Yan D: Floyd Mayweather Jr is often viewed by his “haters” as a boxer who rose to glory by dodging all the best boxers. They keep saying he never fought this guy or did everything he could to avoid that one in his prime but what they seem to forget is between 2000 and the fight with Oscar De La Hoya, he was the most avoided guy in boxing.

“Pretty boy,” as he was called back then, was the very definition of a high risk/low reward fighter. He wasn’t a crowd-pleaser, even though his KO ratio was sky high, because of his humble attitude, which led him to create the personae “money” during his fight against De la Hoya.

An open letter to Mayweather’s haters

floyd8888By Yan D: I don’t think I need to remind anybody that Floyd Mayweather Jr has the biggest following of “haters” since maybe the great Cassius Clay changed his name to Muhammad Ali.

I have no problem with not liking someone especially an athlete or other public figure it comes with the work, but when the hate gets bigger than reality itself it becomes a problem. Here is a list of the most common things a hater has to say about the greatest boxer of his generation.

Bernard Hopkins: Congratulations to an All-Time Great

hopkins53By Yan D: The oldest champion ever has done it again and even now people keep finding ways to bring this living legend down. At the honorable age of 49, IBF/WBA light heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins (55-6-2, 32 KO’s) became the oldest man to not only defend his title but to actually unify his division.

I will admit he defeated the weakest champion and he still have some tough challenge ahead to become undisputed champion, but at an age where some are starting to think about retirement this man from Philadelphia once again showed the world why he “isn’t from this world”.

Should Pacquiao be called a former 8 division world champion?

pac999222By Yan D: First off all this isn’t any disrespect to Manny Pacquiao’s great career in any way, but I just find it funny when people keep calling him the only 8 division world champion in boxing. It is true that Pacquiao won titles in 8 different divisions, but not all of those titles were world titles. Here is a list of Pacquiao’s world titles and I am being nice to include the WBO titles at welterweight, since I believe the WBO has basically no credibility in my eyes.

1) WBC Flyweight Champion (112 lbs)
2) IBF Super Bantamweight Champion (122 lbs)
3) WBC Super Featherweight Champion (130 lbs)
4) WBC Lightweight Champion (135 lbs)
5) (2) WBO Welterweight Champion (147 lbs)

Boxing needs a single ruling body

By Yan D: Let’s leave the boxers alone for a bit to talk about the sport in general. Boxing is actually one of the very few if not the only major sports on the planet without a governing body, but why is that? With so many fighters coming from so many countries I can’t believe why a worldwide federation can’t be created. Don’t get me wrong I am not saying that the WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO and every others sanctioning body are useless, they are actually needed today with so many fighters coming from everywhere.

Andre Ward, Rigondeaux, Hopkins, Lara, “boring”? Really?

rigon13By Yan D: Every time I read a comment about those guys being boring I can’t help but start laughing at the ignorance of the person making the comment. Don’t get me wrong I am not using ignorance meaning those people are stupid, they have a right to like other fighter better, boxing is packed with different fighting styles which is why this sport is so beautiful. I am the first one to like a full action brawl, the Gatti-Ward trilogy sold me to boxing but as a martial artist myself ( tae kwon do for those who wonder) I have the most respect for pure artist of the game.

Boxing before anything else is a science, you have to learn the game, every little aspect of it to become the best, you have to study your opponent, find his strength and take it away from him then exploit their weakness to come out on top. The mental aspect of the game is even more important then the physical as the mind is the most effective tool in a fight. Of course a single punch can change anything but most of the time it won’t be enough.

Breakdown of the $40 million offer by Mayweather to Pacquiao

floyd89897By Yan D: First of all this is my first ever article on this site so I’d like to start by thanking BN24 for letting us share our views about the most beautiful sport on the planet and thank you to every bloggers, without our difference in opinions we wouldn’t have debate. Second, English is actually my second language so please forgive me for every mistakes I could have made writing this text.

Okay, enough gibberish, let’s get back to our topic. Every thing has been said about a potential showdown between the P4P king Floyd Mayweather Jr and former P4P #1 Manny Pacquiao. Accusations have been made by both sides regarding who is to blame for the fight not happening starting with Floyd’s public accusation of Manny taking PEDs (which is view by a sign of fear by Pacman fans), Manny refusing blood test (which looked really fishy for Money’s fan and most of the boxing community), the mediation over the cut-off date, the constant contradictions from both camps and I could go on for a few pages, there is enough drama to make a sitcom that would last longer then Dallas.
