By Sam Holderness: Who is the true Fighter of the Year for 2016? It seems that the press across the board has two main contenders for their fighter of the year, the undefeated Irishman Carl “The Jackal” Frampton or the Ukrainian technicians Vasyl Lomachenko.

Though both fighters are incredibly worthy of the imaginary yet prestigious title, I would like to spend this time to pose why I believe Lomachenko is the should be the winner, if all be it only by a small margin.

By Sam Holderness: Earlier this month on the 10th of December, British heavyweights Dillian Whyte and Dereck Chisora shocked the world in delivering a barnstormer of a fight that matched the WWE level of antics in the buildup.

The rock-em sock-em tradeoffs were a certainly not expected from a seemly European level fighter on the up and a fighter perceived to be over the hill after a few lackluster performances. Whyte won the fight by a 12 round split decision by the scores 115-113, 115-114 for Whyte, and 115-114 for Chisora.

By Sam Holderness: On paper, Deontay Wilder is an American Dream. Why is a 6ft7inches American that holds a portion of the illustrious heavyweight championship not a box office sensation? The Alabama fighter boast a perfect 37/0/0 record with 36 of them by knockout, so what’s missing?

Anyone who is reading is screaming the same thing, a name. Skim through the Bronze Bombers record and you will notice a drastic lack of talent. I appreciate this is not a new statement and it doesn’t take a scholar of the sport to say that Andrzej Warrzyk is an over-matched opponent (being stopped already by twice destined to fight Wilder, Alexander Povetkin) but circumstances mean we will let this one go.
